Hi from Minnesota

Hi all
I have been lurking around your wonderful forum for a while now I stumbled across it after seeing Doug Hodder's boats on the Glen L web site. I have been a hobby woodworker since high school and plan on building both a Teardrop trailer and a wooden boat. I have decided to start with a tear which will be built to go off road as I am also a climber and would like to use it on some of my climbs. I will be using Steve Frederick's construction methods and will use http://www.overlandtrailer.com/ , http://www.outbackteardrop.com/index.html , and others as my inspiration.

I will begin preparing for my build this week when I start my welding class on Wednesday evening. I have not done a lot of metal fabrication but since I will be building the teardrop frame, a boat trailer, and also would like to make a portable sawmill I thought I would start there. Once I complete my class in late October the "Basecamper" build will begin.

Thanks again for all the great info on tears and your patience with my questions as I move along!

Here are a few of my past projects:

Nice work Paul, thanks for sharing the photos.

I didn't see a chimney on the shop. Please don't say it has radiant floor heating... It would cause a lot of jealousy here on the forum

Steve
I actually went with forced air heat and ac. I have radiant in my attached garage but i like to leave the shop set at 50 and just turn it up when i'm working in it. Forced air makes that posiible in just a few minutes.

Welcome aboard Paul.....both the boats and the teardrops are great rewarding projects. I'm sure you'll build something spectacular based on what you have done "around the house". Jump in and enjoy the fun! Doug
