Cooper lake State Park trip

Postby starleen2 » Sat Aug 14, 2010 8:45 pm

Well this weekend we decided to head out camping. We knew that in August – in Texas – that camping is 100+ degree weather is a given. Since the rest of August and part of September weekends are already spoken for, this seemed like a good opportunity for a trip.

We ended up at Cooper Lake State park. The park is divided into tow units. We stayed at the South Sulpher unit.

Cooper lake State park is located just north of Sulpher Spring TX on I-30. The park was sparsely populated (we think due to the heat), but well kept. We enjoyed the trails (early morning) and frequent swims at the beach area to cool off.

Here’s a few picts for ya

The ladies say – It’s hot

No breeze – so we brought our own with the fan

We found some interesting blooms and creatures

And this little guy stopped by to get a drink from the Air conditioner condensate that dripped and pooled on the concrete

The park is a nice little gem just a few hours drive from DFW – not too crowded- yet -cause it’s still a bit secluded. Well worth the trip

Sounds like a nice park and I like the location, just far away that you've felt you've gone somewhere, but you can get there in a few hours.

You sir are a brave man camping in August, I am hoping it cools down more before Loyd Park in two weeks!
