TEARJERKERS *North Meets South Rally 2006*

Camping in the Southeast, including North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Missippi & Alabama, also Southern Appalachian, Georgia, Florida, and Magnolia (Mississippi) Chapters of Tearjerkers

Postby Mark & Andrea Jones » Thu Jan 05, 2006 1:38 pm

A nice smooth easy ride is what I was thinking about.

Whew! Frank, you had me worried for a minute! Fiberglass bottom ought to be fine - minimal rocks (if any at all) and fairly slow current. And there are plenty of places to get out and wade to cool off too, if needed. My thought is aiming for a 4 - 5 hr float trip which is about 8 miles or so. That ought to get us back to the campground in plenty of time for dinner, too.

Any preference on a particular day? I'm thinking Saturday, but I can also do it on Friday or Sunday.

 :D Sounds like a plan for a hot, lazy Sat afternoon. We'll figure out more details a little closer to August, though a dusting of snow this AM makes me want to plan it NOW! Ah, well. Another two months of winter left.

I have to go by our racing schedule (it's subject to change at any time) during the summer months so I really can't plan too far in advance. Sounds like a good time, cept for the 6 hour drive down.

I think we should have a cut off date 30 days before the Rally.

If for no other reason just so all the checks clear and we give the mail a chance to catch up with its self.

However..NO ONE will be refused. They just might not get a shirt.

I just found this string. I'll read all your concerns and add the answers to the website.

The vacation request I turned in this week includes the first week in August. If I get the time off, we'll be there. I'll register and make our reservations as soon as I hear back from my boss.

We plan to visit Gettysburg and maybe one or two other Civil War sites on the way down. We'll arrive sometime Thursday and leave early Sunday morning.

This gathering sounds like lots of fun. I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone. I''ve just gotten into Dutch oven cooking. We'll have something tasty for the pot luck. We'll also bring our canoe for the paddling excursion.

I can't wait!

DARN! DARN! DARN!

After meeting you all this past summer I was hoping to get there this summer. Now with the Redwoods Gathering ending on the 30th of July I have only 4 days to drive back across America. Well, maybe five to be there for the great pot luck you guys and gals put on. Hopefully Carla and Ross will have their rub going. SUPREMELY Good!

Hopefully I will see you then, but, know, I will be thinking of you with great regard.
Regards,

Guy

Make sure and keep in touch with me about this. I am only about 30 minutes from Gettysburg and would like to me you and yours if possible. I don't think that we will be going to the gathering, but could meet up with you in Gettysburg or somewhere around this area.

It's not the hills. It's the time off for the wife  We are lucky to be going to the Spring TearUP in June. I'm still holding out hope that I can get a new teardrop built before then. (too much work and $$ on the new house so far) :x

I really do want to go and meet all the folks that will be there. Who knows, we might be able to make it (or maybe I will have to make the trip by myself). Here's hoping that we make it! :worship:

Hey Kerry,

If you are solo, and need company, Chip can introduce you to some of his old girlfriends LOL. Just don't let Judy read this!! Joan said she can set an extra plate if you get hungry. I guess we are very lucky, our employers allow us time off any time we want. Both jobs not production driven,so that helps. Sure hope you can make it. I know Chip, and it's bound to be fun. If Judy doesn't go ,bring the bike . I am bringing 1 maybe 2,we can ride and stay out of trouble.

So far, nobody else has requested the first week in August. My boss has given preliminary approval to my request. So, we're good to go!
