Another Build (Update 10/03/2011 Finally finished!)

Here is a progress update;
I was able to get the sides ready to assemble to the floor.

Once I get these parts done, I'll build the bulkhead and cabinet frames.
The interior will be Maple ply and maple cabinets.

Here is the street-side, ready for the inner skins;


Curb-side, skin routed out, ready to be glued on;


Street-side, ready for glue. The box marked "glass" holds the windows, 12-by-18 crank-outs from Grant;

Steve, I notice on this build you have framed in and done all the blocking for the door prior to cutting the opening, on the Lil'Diner build and if I recall correctly the Rondack Lodge you had cut the doors from the skins prior and then framed them.

I'm curious as to the change in 'process' so to speak, what was the driving factor? Is it just a matter of trying something new? I can see there would be less waste material with this method.

Just trying something new. I thought it might eliminate the possibility of building in a warped door. By building the door in, then cutting it out, I would have a door that matches any warp in the wall that might exist. Make sense?
I cut the doors out last week. They match the wall surfaces exactly..for now..I've been busy camping and goofing off, so I'll have to post pics soon.

I decided to try building the walls with the doors intact. Cutting them out was not fun, and resulted in a new "design opportunity"! I won't be doing that again!
I'll post the "opportunity" and my solution, when I figure out what to do..
Anyways..




I built the cabinet bulkheads yesterday..Much better day!



As I said at the top, this is a putter project, so progress is not fast.

I've been busy at work..Impending winter is a busy time in my business.

I've been puttering, here's a small update;

Got the cabinet bulkheads done..


I have the insulated bulkheads done as well. They're 1-by frames with pink board insulation and ply skins..


I also got the "Rondack tucked in for the winter.
It's in my "Pole-Barn"


When I sell this one, I'll be able to finish the barn!

Some sanding and finish on the inside are next..Then assembly!

I've decided not to finish this one.

I'll be selling this as is now.

I have the frame, floor, wall panels and bulkheads done.

I also have the windows, door latches and galley hinge, all from Grant.

Yes, I'm still here!

As you know, I sold this to some folks in Maine.
After a very busy summer at work and an encounter with a cardio-cath, I eventually finished!

First, I'm fine now; some chest pain. They thought I was having a heart attack. They did a Cath procedure and placed a stent in a clogged artery.
No heart damage..A warning shot.

As for the trailer, Here are some pics;










The fenders are Kerry's, I bought them from someone on this site a couple of years ago.



The fuse "panel" is a Pelican dry box.

Hey Steve,

Take the time needed to heal properly! I had a cardiac cath in June, and another one in July when I failed my stress test...something about I didn't study for the stress test. I lost 2 months working on The Shack, but I finished cardiac rehab on Friday and apparently I'm good to go.

As someone told me, weeks lost here adds up to years later on. Take the time needed for you to heal.

Steve, you did a beautiful job, as you usually do. Sorry to hear about the vein/heart problems. That's not so nice; but, at least they were able to fix you up and send you home so you could still be with us all.

Take good care of your young self. It's too soon to do any bucket kicking!
