Zucchini may be overkill for east coast bears. A medium carrot might do the job back here.

A bigass German Shepherd went after my 30 pound terrier in a park once. Only once. The Shepherd's owner didn't apologize. Instead she was mad at me for "hurting" her dog.
I didn't hesitate for a second. My pet was in danger. I'd probably jump into it with a bear, too. It kind of an instinct. Passion overrides reason.
I think I'd want to have something more substantial than a zucchini to fight with.![]()
BTW, both dogs were on a leash in the park that day. She just couldn't control hers. Her dog was not really hurt -- other than its pride.
Did you notice the link on the web page to the story about the cows whupping up on a bear. Yep, cows kick bear ass. Sweet.![]()
