North GA Campsites?

Postby SmilinJack » Mon Sep 27, 2010 5:56 pm

I'm planning a trip to the North Georgia mountains in October to do some motorcycle riding and camping. Anyone have suggestions for a nice campsite around Clayton, GA?

Have you registered with the TearJerkers yet.
Link in the heading at the top of every page
The State of Georgia, Chapter Director is Marvin Von Alman
He resides Elijay, GA, a bit west of Clayton, but I am sure He or one of the other GA or NC Tearjerkers can help you out.

I know the general area to find my way around, my mother and sister both live outside Blairsville, but I wouldn't attempt to give directions for good campgrounds. Hopefully, I will be out there rather than Calif. in a couple of years.

Have a great time, the leaves are turning or at least falling already, both my mom and sister are complaining about mulching every other day already

I'm not pulling a tear. I have a cargo trailer conversion that I haul my motorcycle in...

that's not a problem John,
many TearJerkers, are actually pulling Tiny Travel Trailers, rather than strictly teardropers

Jack lots of campgrounds especially in that area. Some are private but I like the state parks and there is one outside of Clayton a bit:

Planning on heading up there in next 2 months ourselves. Beautiful views and very wyndy roads up there.

Cliff,

Thanks for suggesting Moccasin Creek. Unfortunately they don't have any sites available the weekend we want to go...

Next suggestion is too check the state park site at some of the other NGa parks and Army Corp of engineers, they can be found on Recreation.go site.
