Where's the best place to sell my PU ??

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

Interesting thread. Craigslist is your best bet.

KBB has the truck around $2700.

Keep in mind that most truck buyers will be looking for the following:

V8
Automatic Transmission
Bucket seats

The fact that it has R12 is actually a minus, not a plus. I have a tank of R12 my garage that's worth a small fortune. You can go to Walmart to get 134a. Which is more appealing?

Love the truck. Best of luck selling it. What's going to replace it? Newer model?

FlashJim is right. Why are you selling? Sounds like a great truck to keep.

:D I sold my truck :applause:

I originally asked everyone their thoughts on the best place to sell my pride and joy. I received several suggestions and comments....... thanks

I thought I'd pass along my experience with a couple of your suggestions:

First, I tried Craigslist, to my discouragement I didn't receive a single response. I was ready to just keep the truck and store it winters, and move on, but Glassgrasshopper had suggested I try E-Bay Classifieds which is a FREE local listing (200miles).

This service is by far the very best....... period. Forget Craigslist, it's full of scammers and killers. The E-bay Classified is great! You can show 24 photos opposed to "Scammers list" which allows 4. All responders are E-Bay members and you can see their score, their name and phone number
Also E-Bay does a free Car Fax type search of the listed vehicle and gives a rating score from the results comparing it to other similar vehicles.

I got 17 responses in 7 days. 6 hours after listing the truck, I got a request to call a potential buyer. I did and he offered to send me a check for the full asking price, wait till the check cleared, and then send him the title so he could licence it and pick it up at a later date. I told him I wanted him to see/inspect/drive the truck first. He lived 95 miles away.

I thought about it awhile and called him back. I offered to deliver the truck if he would bring me home. He agreed. I delivered the truck after a 2 hour drive. I pulled into his driveway, he never got within 6' of the truck, never looked inside, under the hood, in the bed, listened to it run or drove it. He paid me in cash and drove me home. SWEET!!!
:applause:

This may surprise many of you, but this is the 5th vehicle since 1975, I have sold without the buyer wanting to drive it first. Also, if this buyer decided not to buy, I had a back-up buyer from PA (175 mi away) with cash in hand willing to buy. He called me 2-3 times a day for 3 days wanting to know the status of the pending sale. Plus......I had several offers for less than the full asking price, as well as some that I had e-mailed that I had a sale pending, but would let them know.

Sorry to be so long winded, but I just wanted to pass along the great experience I had using E-Bay Motors Free Classifieds. I was easily able to sell my truck for full asking price to someone that appreciated the care I have given it for the last 18 years. Actually, that meant more to me than than the money I received. My only regret is I don't a dozen more to sell!!

Again....
Thanks for all your suggestions,

Larry C
