Very minor progress... but it's the details that separate the men from the boys. Got some baseboard installed & caulked. Patched up the drywall, primed, new coat of green to find the flaws (aplenty), more mud...

God, I hate drywall.

At any rate, Gurl put a 6th coat of poly on the tabletop, and it looks good. Spent last night working on drywall, and a little more of the same this morning...

Been quite a while since I posted any updates, but Gurl & I are both back in school - she as a teacher, I as a student - and I've been doing a few small paying jobs at my folks' house & at my sister's (gotta pay those ever increasing legal expenses). Had a morning off today & gurl got some painting done, and I installed coathooks:

Also got these in the mail this past week, for drawers, when I get around to making them:

Doesn't look like much real progress, and it's not... but I think I'm getting into the home stretch. Just need to finish armrests, trim the top of seatbacks, and make a couple drawers.

I was hoping to cut dovetails in drawers today, but Gurl had other plans for me, and I spent the day hanging trash-picked cabinets in her garage (I'm really the beneficiary here, since they'll store my tools). We did, however, make time to run to the hardware store, and I rigged up my dubious electrical outlet. I cut 5ft off an extension cord which caught on fire a few months ago while plugged into my table saw (Yes... real flames. It was very exciting). I've had her laptop plugged into it for several hours, so I know it works. My concern is safety. I know it wouldn't meet code, but I can't see it being any different than using an extension cord. Here's pics.

Started with this:

I plugged in the molded end of the extension cord here. It's really sort of inaccessible:

Coiled up excess here, and my finished product:

I also milled some trim for top of benches a couple days ago. Primed, in the garage, waiting for a coat of black paint in the morning:

Extention cord works but it isn't code...it is however your house... Hope there aren't any children near cause low is not good with kidlets. They just like to stick their tongues in stuff. :R

Be sure what ever you plug in is rated below the amps of the cord. You can always get a heavier duty cord. Love the booth!

Your right - not to code -

Hope he doesn't get flooded.

5 kids, ranging in age from 7 - 12... they know better than to play with outlets by now (I hope). The cobbled together electrical stuff is all really out of the way - inside one of the hinged benchtops... a spot Gurl has claimed for her own storage needs. Babies will not be fishing around in there. I don't expect any trouble (fingers crossed). Further, it's not my house... it's my girlfriend's house ;) ... and not in a flood plain by any means.
Thanks for the compliments.

Drawer fronts need to have edges rounded over, and will be painted green. Each drawer will hold 18+ beers, although Gurl is planning to use them for art supplies (drawers aren't refrigerated, after all).

And these are gratuitous pictures of blood I dripped on the floor of her garage while hanging cabinets Sunday morning:

First time I have ever used mechanical drawer slides, BTW, and I don't like them at all. Too much adjustability. I have one drawer working perfectly, after about an hour of tinkering, but the other keeps sticking shut. Next time I think I'll just make my own hardwood slides, as I have done in the past.

I think I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. All I have left to do is make those pesky armrests, and finish replacing baseboard/shoe mouldings.

The booth looks great!! Good job on that.

As far as I can see, the electrical is no more dangerous than any other extension cord. Actually it's safer than most since it is not out in the open for people to trip over.

Gonna be finished today:

This one is just a good picture showing what the table top looks like. Gurl did a very nice job refinishing it:

Armrests will get a couple more coats of black as the afternoon progresses. Rejuvenation, company from whom I bought coathooks, knobs & light fixture, has a page where they post photos of their products in customer's homes/projects, so Gurl & I are planning to move some furniture out of the way later, get some good pics, and see if I can't make it onto their website. My parents' have a handyman friend, who they hired to build them a shed - he posted pics of it on some website & won a trip to Vegas & a ton of power tools.
