Have a good day.

Gage - Would you use the one layer of 1/8" or would you double it up? Thanks and I'll be here to follow up. :)

That's what I did for my roof and hatch, 2 layers of 1/8 on the outside. The sidewalls, cabinetry, and shelving are just single layer 1/8 on both sides.

Radius

Postby Cookie » Mon Jan 09, 2006 3:33 pm

No I dont check this everyday weekends are a little busy for me so I let this go. I have not even bought my wood yet for this project I am just asking questions right now and storing up info. I dont have any pics to show you yet that is why I have not posted any. My 12" radius is in the front of the trailer at the top. from the floor it will come straight up three feet do a twelve inch radius and go straight back to my rear radius. I am sorry that I bothered you with my questions I will go back to just reading the posts that other people send in and try to learn from them.
Thank you
offically silent Cookie from now on :shhh:

Cookie,

Don't ever appologize for asking a question! And please don't be silent. This board is here for you and everyone else to ask questions. You are not obligated to do anything (like checking for answers everyday), due to what anyone says here. Ask the questions that you need answered and check back when you can to get the answer(s), OK?

Hey, don't take it that way. Ask all the questions you have and we'll answer the best we can. I should have known better. The board is always slow on the weekends. Some people have better things to do than live on thier computer. Although, there are posters that ask a question and you never hear from them again. It did get your attention though, didn't it. :shake hands: As for your 12" radius up front, I think I would reconsider and go with at least a 19" radius minimum. The 12" radius will give an appearance of it being a box with the top corner being rounded over. I would think you would want some shape up there. And 1/8" ply will work just fine.

Let me first give you an example. The roof of a vintage travel trailer has .032 alum sheet applied to 1"x2" cross framing and then 1/8" ply interior skin. You'll also find that a lot of your early teardrops only have 1/8" ply for thier roof skin and 1"x2" cross beams, no interior skin. My teardrop is 5 wide and what I did was use 1/8" birch ply cross ways on top and 1"x2" spars laying flat I laid them flat because I planned for installation and interior skin, also 1/8" birch. My installation is 3/4" foam board. I covered it with .062 alum but .040 will also work just fine. The strength of my roof has been tested by a 200lb friend of mine getting up on top to fix an Ezup that was coming apart (I wasn't around). I guess what I just said, is that 1/8" ply will work just fine and it rolls easier.

Sorry about being so winded. Hope that answered you guys.

Have a good day.

That's one of the reasons I don't post very much in this section. As for this thread. Do you know what Cookie is talking about? For the life of me, I can'r figure out where the 12" radius is. To give a good answer or suggestion it would help to know where it's at.

Have a good day.

No Gage, I'm not sure which radius cookie is talking about, but I hope he doesn't quit asking his questions. That's what the site is for.

Installtion = insulation

Postby Guy » Mon Jan 09, 2006 4:45 pm

Dear Gage,

Do you mean "insulation" when you write "installation"? I have seen the phrase "installation" often in your posts, when I thought you meant "insulation" and just want to make sure my brain is not playing tricks on me.

BTW, the reason why I ask is that I know you can spell.

I'm still learning. I screwed up with that last post by admitting that I screwed up. I've just learned that I shouldn't have admitted that. Now nobody is going to read my answers.

Have a good day.

Back in school, I had a teacher who had taught mathematics for 23 years up to that point...
Everytime he'd make a mistake, he'd exclaim, "That's the second mistake I've made in 23 years..."

Cookie,
Keep posting!
