Teardrop owner in FL?

Postby tuber » Sat Oct 09, 2010 11:50 am

We're thinking about building a teardrop style camper. My wife would like to see one for real, not just a picture. She doesn't do well with visualization. We live on the west coast of Florida in Yankeetown. Is there anyone in FL who would be willing to allow us to come and see their camper? I still work so it would probably have to be Fri to Mon. Thanks in advance.

My parents lived winters in Yankeetown in the late 80's early 90's. It is a quiet little place until you drive back out to Inglis and the 4-lane.
My parents owned the house on the corner just past the oil storage tanks.

Randy,
We didn't move here until the late 90's. They removed the oil plant, did an environmental cleanup, and did some relandscaping. The new elevation causes some flooding to the house there now. Still a wonderful town though.

I'm not familiar with Yankeetown. Unfortunately Steve and I both sold our Teardrops but MaryK has hers and there are others here in Florida too. I'd make sure you let her see both a 4 and 5 wide, even 6 if there are any around.

Wish I could help you (unless you want to look at a small standy). Good luck.

Becca,
Thanks for the info. I'm planning on building one 54 inches wide. The size of our double bed.

madjack,
one of the truisims in life is that everything happens on the same weekend. We have a family wedding and get together the weekend of nov 13 to 18th and won't get back to fl until too late.

Then you should try and make our gathering in February (4-6th) at Silver River State Park in Ocala, FL. Even if you can't camp, just spend the day looking at all the Teardrops and other trailers that will be there and you would be more than welcome to stay for supper - potluck supper.

Hmmm even though I grew up in FL I've never heard of Yankeetown. Whenever there was a city we'd never heard of, we'd say, "It must be in the panhandle somewhere.

I looked it up and apparently I've been around that area, Brooksville, Spring Hill, Homosassa but not quite that far North.

It's a good idea to try one out. When I was building mine, my wife just couldn't see it. We visited someone during their build and it helped her a lot. Since then, I've had several people come visit me to try mine out.

Tuber,

Could show you a gypsy trailer. 8)

The tear drop went to live in St Paul, MN last year. I miss it enough that I might have to build another one.

My wife and I went to see Kerry and Susanne's under construction today. I would like to say thank you to everyone who has offered help and especially Kerry and Susanne.
:applause:
My wife has given me permission to continue with the planning of the project after talking with Susanne. I'm not sure if I've done myself any favors here.
