Junkyard wheels 5 x4.5 bolt pattern?

Postby dguff » Tue Jan 10, 2006 11:34 am

I am thinking of looking for some wheels from a junkyard with a 5 x 4.5 bolt pattern. My question is what cars/trucks used that lug bolt pattern as original equipment? Thanks for any info.

Ford Rangers and Explorers and most other 5 bolt small Fords but the Explorers and Rangers have some of the nicest wheels. There are quite a few vehicles that use that pattern, I know there was a list around here somewhere but I can't seem to find it. Simple way to find out would be to call your local bone yard or stop over and talk to them, they are usually a little more inclined to help you in person. They have interchange books for that sort of info. Be sure to check the offset tho.

Nope, Ford truck/van have a larger circle, you have to go with the baby trucks and mini vans.

Juar make sure you do not get rims from a front wheel drive car. They have to much offset.

I don't want to hijack the thread but where do the harbor freight trailer's fall. What size bolt pattern do they have and will the 12 inch and 8 inch tires and rims fit on the same hub?

I think all the 5 bolt HF & most other 2k axles hubs are 4.5", (there are a couple other sizes that I have seen but they are not very common) the 8 & 12" are interchangable provided they are both 4 bolt, you don't find many 5 bolt 8" rims.

Ok. Make this real simple for me. Can I buy the 1800 pound HF trailer and put on takeoff rims from a '94 Dodge pickup (styled steel 15'' wheels like in the pic below)?
Image

Or should I just get the pickup bed, axle, rims, brakes and all? And if I do that, should I get the one front rim that's not bent for a spare? This poor truck looks like somebody tried to run over a freight train with it.

Need spare parts for yours or are you planning a really heavy strange looking trailer?
I doubt the rims will fit a HF trailer, I'm just guessing, but I'd say that bolt pattern is about 5.5", probly fit your Ford pickup tho.

Naah ... I could get the whole thing for about $300, and for another $250 he said he would make a "pickup bed trailer" with working lights, brakes, 3 good used tires and a 2'' ball coupler. But he only wants $15 apiece for the rims.

Laredo, even if they fit the bolt pattern the back spacing may be too shallow, thats why my universal smoothies won't fit untill I widen the axel to create more offset to the outside.
