There's more done on the headboard now. Electrical plugs are in and fronts on either side of the AC.

My car issues (luckily , I get it back tomorrow!) and other things have made me decide to just borrow a friend's camper for LCG and take our time with this rebuild, get it right and have the beautiful debut at BB2011.

Julie

That AC cover is nice looking! I was just thinking about how you would fend off the pillows when I scrolled down! Good job!

I think the reality check on the build and your alternate choice is perfect, it relives the pressure, and you can still make it camping to LCG and that's the most important part! There's always a good time for an unveiling event!

Slow progress but it'll get there. Hatch is a go, and roof about ready to cover.

Julie,

Your Jewelbox (II?) is coming along nicely. I can tell a great deal of thought went into the design and the construction.

I do need to get you a different background flag for the shop though!

Aggie --- I think I just threw up a little ... Not my shop, but nothing but the SOONER flag will fly there . Anything from Texass will get dumped out in the pond.

Thanks so much Scott !!

Brother... sorry no, not campable yet . I will be there though in a borrowed rig from one or the other camping friend.
Wouldn't miss LCGV for the world!

oklahomajewel wrote:Thanks y'all ... water damage wasn't the only reason ... that was like lots of people experience ... water seeping it at the end of the h.hinge or up under the doors during travel in the rain.

Other things like wanting longer bed, figuring out I really didn't use the power of a deep cycle battery for much at all, and not knowing how to build something the first time. Plus had a little hail damage on the roof vent and the paint job had places that were cracking, etc.

Hi Julie,
What were the dimensions of your previous bed vs. your makeover build? And you don't have to answer this, but how tall are you? I'm curious as to what you've discovered the ideal dimensions to comfortably sleep in are and how many inches clearance you prefer for your feet?

That has always been the one compromise with my teardrop that if I could do all over again (in my case purchase again) I would change. I'm 76" tall and my bed is 78" long. Not enough to comfortably sleep in without going into a slight diagonal - thus the 6-wide.

Scott (Starleen2) ... the reciever hitch on back is for a bike rack.

Scott (Oasis...) My previous 'bed' was almost queen size . It was just under 5' wide and 6' long. I'm 5'7, but on the first one didn't think about pillow and your head is never right at the top of the mattress . And stretching out , scooching down , whatever. I found myself sleeping diagonal alot of the time , or feeling the bulkhead wall with my feet .
I remember ex-minnesota boy saying it's good to lay down, with shoes on and cross your arms behind your head and measure from elbows to bottom of shoes . I have a queen size bed at home so I went with that measurement.
Like I said before, If I'm dating a guy that's taller, he'll just have to spoon! (hint, hint) ;)

So among other things, this new one has an extra foot and half (?) added on the frame , to the end. There is not a tongue box, but the AC and the curve for the headboard comes over the tongue. I'm going 'all electric' except for a small converter for the stereo (gotta have music!)
I can't remember the new bed size , I want to say it's 78" or a little more ... good for me But I also wanted to have the ice chest inthe galley because that's the point of the teardrop --- not dragging out crap out of the car !

It's nothing fancy, but thanks for the comments! I appreciate it!

Hey Julie,

It's almost shameful to compare this to your complete makeover, but you've inspired me to take a look at my teardrop and I think I found a way to gain about 5 inches in bed length. I have the Little Guy design with a bulkhead wall (the newer ones don't have it and go straight back).

Anyhow, I think I can take that out and just move it back about 5 inches. That would make all the difference in allowing my feet to relax down and not press against it - which drives me nuts and cramps my leg muscles too.

Spooning, however, with someone special in a teardrop is such bliss I think I could make that work in a shoebox. ;) You'll have no problems there with whoever the lucky guy is.
