Subaru - Badge of Ownership

Postby absolutsnwbrdr » Thu Oct 14, 2010 7:34 am

I know there are some fellow Subaru lovers on here so I thought I'd share....

I was at the U.S. Rallycross Championship Race in New Jersey a couple weeks ago, and wandered over to the Subaru tent. The reps were handing out free t-shirts if you could prove that you drove a Subaru by showing them your Subaru key! SWEET FREE SHIRT!!

With the t-shirts, they were also handing out small postcards that you could fill out and mail in to receive your FREE Subaru Badge of Ownership. Its just a little emblem that you can stick on your Subaru, stating how many Subaru's you've owned, and it also comes with your choice of "lifestyle icons".

Go to http://www.badgeofownership.com/ to fill out the quick form. You just need your the VIN of your current Subie and youre set! I think you can receive one free badge per vehicle, but I'm not certain. You do get as many Lifestyle Icons as you'd like, and you can always order more later.

My badge of ownership will say "My 5th Subaru" and 3 lifestyle badges: Outdoor Sports, High Mileage, and Snow Sports 8)

While we're talking Subaru, heres a couple pics from the RallyCross Championship Race @ New Jersey Motorsports Park...

Cool...thanks for sharing this. I just may have to get a badge. Wouldn't pay for one, but if it's free, it's for me.
There's a suggestion box for future lifestyle emblems...I'm going to suggest a camping one.
Also going to suggest a 2012 Baja hybrid. :lady:

One day I will own a WRX or a Legacy GT wagon... Subarus are solid, well-built cars. They have risen in reputation from being fundamentally moto-driven oxcartzs to stylish, all-weather high-performance machines. I <3 them.

Awesome! I'm on my 3rd (and 2nd).

Should I get the "mechanical" icon to represent the engine being rebuilt?

Oops, I read this article back in May and I thought I posted it here. I think I may have only e-mailed it to my buddy with an Outback.

Interesting. I'm usually on top of things, but just found out about it at the Rallycross event.

They also have a sweet "Rally" Lifestyle Icon that isnt shown on their site. Its kinda a special request type thing. It shows a head on silhouette of a Subaru with mud flying out from each side.

I'm in my second outback and continue to love subarus. I was watching a rally as a kid some 15 or 16 years ago. The subaru flipped over, rolled a couple times, flames came out of the hood, landed on its wheels, and died. The driver shrugged, turned the key, started up fine, and got back in the race. I was hooked ever since.

We are currently driving number 1, but if they would drop in a diesel, we would quickly buy number 2.

Nice idea with the badge!!!

Neat idea. If my WRX wasn't de-badged I'd probably get one that says #6. Just don't think it'd look right on the back of an otherwise clean car, though.
Why do we drive on a parkway and park on a driveway?

The emissions requirements in the U.S. are significant. And given the price of diesel fuel, where it is right now, it really does not pay to bring the vehicle into the U.S. We're trying to see what happens. As the market sorts itself out, we'll get ready, and then look at bringing the car (here).

Our chance of getting this powerplant seems slim but new CAFE regulations requiring upwards of 35 miles per gallon by 2016 could convince Subaru that the time to offer Americans a diesel is now.

Emissions standards in Europe are as tight as ours. But, Europeans have adopted diesels, while Americans still haven't, on any large scale.

There are plenty of diesels ready for the American market, if there was a big enough American market to justify the cost of bringing them here. VW/Audi has diesel versions of every product they sell here, but most Americans don't want them. :(
