Aluminum Heaven !

Postby JohnF » Tue Jan 10, 2006 7:29 pm

I drove the Jeep with my "other" BF trailer up to Henderson, CO, this morning (150-miles or so) to ALRECO Aluminum (303) 287-7210 and WOW! Do they have aluminum...solid round stock up to 8-inches in diameter, box, T, I-beam, sheet, angle, the works!

I bought 3each 4 x 8-ft 0.04, and 1each 4 x 10-foot 0.04, plus 96-feet of 1/2 x 1/2 angle...all for $225. They even rolled it up and loaded it for me!

Worth the trip...I never saw so much aluminum at one time before, and I always go to the big fly-in at Oshkosh where there is LOTS of 'flying' aluminum.

The Cubby looks good to go for early spring try out.

Damn! Hadn't found that one around here in CO. I am in need of "thin" diamond/treadplate. Ya see any?
So they have lots of different aluminum extrusions/trim? In need of a few workarounds. May need a roadtrip down there, since it is less than an hour (41 miles). Thanks for finding this one!!

Yes, I saw LOTS of aluminum diamond stuff...the man in charge, Bob, was talking to someone on the phone and he told the would-be customer that they could make diamond plate in any size, thickness, etc. I noticed diamond stuff standing all around.,

They are located at 11299 Brighton Rd, which is CO 44, or 104th street, about 0.5 miles west of Hwy 85, and about that same distance from the hwy 85/I-76 intersection - very easy to find.

Nice folks to work with.

John,

I went out there looking for some weird size trim and they were the only place around that had it. You're right, they have just about everything. They cut my trim to size and loaded it in the truck. Great place for aluminum.

John,

That's where I got my aluminum (a bit of a drive from South Dakota). The guys that worked there are great, very helpful. It was the only place I could find the 5' wide aluminum that I wanted. They also said that for a large enough order (and I don't think it was too large, maybe a dozen or so sheets), they could get the length of the sheets custom cut. Not a lot of help for a guy building one trailer, but it could save a lot of waste for a manufacturer or a group of guys that placed their order all together.
