On my first tear...I made it 3'....thought I'd go longer on #2 so that I can add a vintage Honda trail 90 if I find one...but in the mean time...I can pile a lot of crap on the tongue and it does back easier...if you're using angle iron to run back under the frame...just keep it back from the hitch...that way you can always cut the tongue shorter if you don't want the "Gene Simmons" look..it's always a lot easier to cut it back rather than add on...just my opinion.....doug
My ball mount stuck out a long way, about 2 inches too far. That made it rattle a lot when the trailer moved around. I shoved the ball mount all the way into the receiver, marked it and drilled a new hole in it... so now the leverage the trailer has on the ball mount is lessened and some of the rattling is gone...
