Harbor Freight trailer question

I notice that a lot of people order the #1800 trailer from Harbor Freight. It is a little beyond my budget right now. Would the #1200 work too? What kind of mods would I have to make to it? My figure for the cabin weight is around 800lbs.

The 1800 is on sale right now for $299.00, but if that is not in your budget the "1200" will work just fine. I do recommend getting the 12 inch tires.

Many members have used the lighter HF Trailer.

However, this month the heavier one is on sale for $100 less, plus there is a coupon for an additional 20%off. That bring the heavy model down to about $240.

I built mine on the 1475# harbor trailer with 12 in tires..

Krang--1475 here too. (It comes with 12" wheels.)

The main modificiation ain't a biggy, and at the risk of repeating myself here with something I've posted elsewhere a bunch of times but am too tired to find right now...

Youtake two of the cross members and insert them where the SIDE CHANNELS meet instead. This is just a mattter of drilling a few holes, and creating a wood cross member for the center.

99% of us also move the axle back from its factory position (we do it 36" from rear, and again, a few more holes to drill.) )

Also, some of us, like me, mounted the axle BELOW the springs, which makes the TD taller. Most folks do it the other way, though, for a lower profile.

No real modifcation here--just a matter of where you position those axle u-bolts.

You guys are awesome. I still might splurge for the #1800. I just have to convert my income tax refund into a TT when it comes. This will be my first build. Hoping to have it together enought go to Tearup 2006 at Fish Creek. AND yes I plan to take lots of pictures cause I know.... you guys love the pics!!! Thanks again.

Krang, I chose the 1800# trailer and I'm glad I did. My projected 750# weight is actaully closer to 1000# totally loaded. You'd be surprised how much extra weight is added when "camp ready". Have you ever seen the movie "The Long Long Trailer"??

Yep, The fact I like most is that "Made in the USA" glad to know we still have a few people left that know how to make things (other than hamburgers) LOL!

In looking at the frame it didn't look like the axle needed to move.

I know Len's on the tail end of his TSC/Benroy X 2 builds, maybe he'll see this and reply.
