renegade Roto-Zip

Anything to do with mechanical, construction etc

Postby TonyCooper » Wed Jan 11, 2006 10:15 pm

When using my rotozip I found it far easier to control when I cut in a counter clockwise direction and pulling it towards me using both hands to secure it.... and only in a horizontal plane!

For instance, after marking the window opening, I would start at the farthest point I could reach from me, and with both hands securely holding it, bring the rotozip towards me making sure any curves to be cut are cut counter clock wise.

Hope this makes sense. Give it a try on scrap lumber.

Chip...be a man!!! Show us a picture. In regards to a new jig saw, I replaced my 25 year old B&D $10 special with a new Bosch orgbital a couple of years ago. That bad boy makes a wood butcher look like a cabinet builder. No comparison whatsoever.

Thanks Chip-

That doesn't seem to be to bad. Like my Daddy said "Can't see it from the basement"

I'll think I'll hold off on the rotozip.............

Chip-
I found the best way to hold your template down on your work piece is to tack it down with some brads. I cut my doors and windows out vertically with a Roto-Zip like you and had no problems.

Chip,

Way to cowboy-up and admit what you did! Me? I'd still be trying to fix it, "....uhhhhhh no, honey. Everything's fine!"

For Mightydog-size mistakes, you need one of these:

Yep, Chip, there's nothing like making two-cent toothpicks out of a $10 sheet of plywood.

bledsoe3, on December 17, the lovely Mrs Dog was awarded her Master of Education from George Fox University. That means we now have time to work on this project!

After spending most of Christmas vacation cleaning the garage of 10+ years of....uhhhhhh...stuff, we now have a place in which to construct our tear from something other than cardboard.

We started work last weekend putting on the jack on the tongue, the safety cables and rear jacks. Drilling steel is tough work!

Mrs Dog has been taking pix of the work at hand and we'll be updating the pictures in the album. I was looking at the pictures from August when the cats were kittens. They're full-growd kats now!
