I love to play with telemarketers

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

Then there was the time the aluminum siding & window company called. Did I want an estimate? Sure, here is my address. Gave them the address for the local federal building / post office. Never heard from them again.
If I knew retirement would be this much fun, I would have done it right out of high school.

One day I was needing a laugh and when a telemarketer called I started talking with a slur like I was really drunk. They went on with their sales pitch, And I acted too plowed to comprehend what they were saying. Finally I made a THUD sound on my desk and acted like I was snoring......

They still stayed on the phone awhile !!

I actually had a telemarketer call one night, and he was drunk! To top that off, he was calling for the Police Officer's Association! I tried to report him, because he was exceedingly obnoxious, and found out the Police Officer's Association he was collecting for was from another state!

I just hand the phone to my 2 year old and let them have a conversation. He loves to talk on the phone.

We get calls pretty regularly at work from someone wanting to update their files on our copy machine and ask to please verify the make and model number.

Well, this gets old pretty fast and normally I just hang up without saying a word - but, the last time they (she) called I went along with the stupid scam and told her to 'hold on, let me get that off the machine', put her on hold, came back and said "ok, the make is "PLS" and model is "BI-TE-ME". She started to repeat it back then paused for 3 seconds and she said "You are an Idiot". I fell out laughing and told her to have a nice day and hung up.

Years ago, before cell phones and answering machines, we had a phone in our barn (as we spent more time there than at the house). We were working at the opposite end of the barn, about 180 feet from the phone. The phone was ringing all day, but by the time I would get to the phone they would either hang up or I would get a prerecorded message. Late in the afternoon when I ran to the phone and the telemarketer asked to speak to my husband, my reply went as follows......"The SOB left me for another woman and I have no idea where he is", you know, it was about 6 weeks before we had another telemarketer call!

Home remodelers used to call the landline selling siding, windows, etc. Easiest answer is "I rent". They hang up very fast.

Well, part of the answer is true, I "rent" my home from the mortgage company for the next 30 years!

I've had calls from Fire Fighter Associations, I always tell them "I'm a Fire Fighter why have I never heard about your association?" There never local and never have anything to do with my Department or any of the others around here. It's pretty sleazy if you ask me because people always assume there supporting their local people.
