I have often wondered why not. Well here it is and it works. Now if they could make a way to remake it to a tearddrop...

That is really cool.

But, it was developed in Japan. :(

I wish we were the ones who developed it.

Don't care who developed it. If it is for real, and it works, let's hope lots of people start using it.

Woohoo! That's the best video that I have seen in a long time! That will help the world with two problems: energy and landfill usage.

The real question is how much energy does it take to convert it back. Would a person be spending more to convert it back to oil than what it cost at the pump.

Someone needs to get this guy to come to America and get the ball rolling on this. What a huge amount of "waste" converting back to "energy"!

shouldnt be long before the big oil companys buy up that! lololol we will never ever see technology like this implemented in the good old usa..at least not on a scale big enough to make a difference...I hate to be a pessimist but someone in the US probably had this figured out 30 years ago and got hushed up.... :(

I feel I need to point out a few of things about the demo.

The heating chamber was set to 400° C, which is about 750° F. That a boat load of energy to convert the plastic back to oil from which it came from in the first place with the addition of energy.

We can't tell what residue is left in the cooking/pressure chamber and how do you safely dispose of it ?

Uses water to turn gas back into oil. Now you have polluted water. What to you do with that ?

The plastic used in the demo melt in the neighborhood of 350 to 425° F. It would be much more energy efficient to recycle and reprocess the waste and use it in new products.

As easy as the demo make to solution seem, I think it is difficult to carry out on a large scale project.

Really the best current solution is for us to look at you we use and consume products/stuff.

I think Recycle and Re-use is a lot more efficient, but of course it is not a pretty or technical solution to the problem.

By the way, I make my living during plastic pellets into sharps collectors. We are starting to use recycled resin in the last couple of years.

Afraid so, but most things are.
If you think about it, everything, is raw material and energy added to create something new. Be that a tree, new baby, train, plane or automobile.
Other energy comes along and wears it out and eventually returns it to mother nature. Depending on what you look at, it can be days, years, or centuries.

Agreed! I am a big recycler and reuse things whenever possible. It's amazing how much "trash" people put out are from overpackaging and recycleables.
