Tite Bond Temperature Issues

Postby J.Heyboer » Fri Nov 05, 2010 8:24 am

I will be working on my trailer throughout the winter in my two stall garage. The bottle of Tite Bond III Glue reads that the it must at or above 45 degrees during application.

Will I need to set-up a space heater in my garage or is there any tolerance in this specification.

Have any of you guys had any issues glueing when its cold out?

Thanks John,

You could use a small pot of hot water and keep the bottle in that.

A space heater would just make your life more comfortable - I would think and assist in the curing of the glue als.

John I do not have teardrop build experience but have used titebond products for years in other woodworking projects. I think the issues you will have are first cold glue is extremely difficult to spread and in some cases even get out of the bottle. The second issue is titebond glues typically set up in under thirty minutes if you are much below fifty degrees that time will extend greatly. Having said that you could try it on a couple sample boards and see what happens.

Thanks Guys,

I realized that I posted this in the wrong section. Anyway, I got out the space heater the other night and did not have any issues. I also realized I could just store my glue inside, Duh.
