"How to" video?

Postby krang469 » Mon Jan 16, 2006 7:10 am

Has anyone ever made a "how to" video on teardrop building? I've done all kinds of searches with no luck. Just curious.

I have some time lapse of the Bluebonnet build on my website. Making a video would be a major project.

Does anyone want to lend a hand in something I was considering?

I can take the lead, because I know how to put together high-quality print presentations and it's my idea, but...

I was thinking of contacting the guys at Orange County Chopper about doing a show on building one of those "TDs" that we've seen here that can be towed with a motorcycle. These shows are always looking for new ideas, and with the proper coordination between us and the right presentation to offer them, they might bite.

So there also may be ANOTHER build show out there that would want to do the same for a standard TD.

Remember the response that RV Crazy gets from everyone? This is something that a TV production company specializing in these kind of build shows might be interested in. First guess is that it would probably take place in California, simply because so much TV production is done out there.

Your thoughts and ideas?

ya know that is a pretty good idea Ira, Just like the "biker build-off shows" they could get different TD builders and have them build a tear and then meet somewhere and caravan to a TD gathering and have the folks at the gathering vote for their favorite tear...also I know there is quite a bit of interest in a lightweight tear for use behind a motorcycle

Just swoosh it around in your heads a little. I don't care about stealing anyone's thunder--because believe me, I ain't gonna act as our resident build expert here.

I'll just take everyone's input/consensus and put it together into a printed presentation. (And I won't use the word "ain't" in my presentation because that ain't English.)

I guess that putting Orange County Chopper aside for right now, the next step is to find the names of some production companies that do these kind of shows--easily learned by watching the credits at the end of them. For OCC, I need those links to those motorcycle trailers that a few guys did.

I'll start pulling some TD shots off of this site, but those are all 72 dpi. So if there's something you want to send in higher res, PM me to let me know.

I can see the OCC show with those motorcycle trailers as making the biggest "splash," but those aren't our true TDs. So that's why this is all still open for discussion before we decide to do anything and approach anyone.

That's a super idea Ira. I'd love to watch a show about TTT building. Maybe you should open a new thread in the General Discussion section addressed to this issue to make others aware of what you are planning to make it easier for everyone to help. By the way Ira.... "Ain't" isn't good english..... It's good American!! :D

Did any body see the 'Little Guy' being towed behind a big Cruiser at Sturgis this year, or was it last year? I can never remember.

Have a good day.

Ira, I know there's a builder in NY that could do something locally. I hear he does good work too. I think his name is Steve. I don't know how close he is to OCC, but they're in the same state at least.

The more I think about it, the thing about OCC is that although they're a cool, "sexy" prospect, it wouldn't be a real TD. However, a lot of bikers might sure be into something like that.

I'd love to do a video on my build, but that would take way too much time, planning and setting up the shots, even with a remote to start and stop the camera. If my wife had the time to do it with me, using the camera, I might consider it. So, I guess it will just be pics. Most of them won't need me to be in the shot, so they won't take up much of my time.
