Oh bye the way, forget the welcome mat because the porch says welcome by itself.

Thanks Jim! :) I placed them off center because I didn't want to block the area where the rain/dirt falls through and it is softer looking. Good eye Jim!

If I had the $$ and the time, I'd be there my friend! I can tell you this - I totally understand the pride everyone feels when they build their Teardrops because even though my little porch/deck isn't perfect by any means, I built every bit of it alone and I love it. :)

Southern girls like snow! I lived in Pocatello, Idaho for a year and 3 years in Winnemucca, Nevada. We had so much snow in Idaho that we had to poke around for the truck one morning. Never parked in on the street again after that.

Also lived in Rock Springs, Wyoming for 6 weeks and hated every single second of it.   Refused to continue unpacking so hubby made a call and his company moved us back to another job in Louisiana.

But I think you're right - I should help you in warmer months.

How was Wyoming.. different than the other places, so that you hated it so?

We don't have snow yet.. [but I bet it is not far off..]

November can be quite bleak.. cold.. or at least what we are used to.. grey skys.. not much sun.. and most vegetation is dead and brown..

I can only judge the part of Wyoming we lived in which was Rock Springs. The place was a haven for America's Most Wanted (at that time anyway) and the wind blew all the time. There was snow but it got so cold that the roads were mainly ice. The wind was a monster!!! And the people didn't make us feel welcome whatsoever.

The company had rented us a Tri-level townhome and the people right next door wouldn't even acknowledge our existance. No matter how loud I said "HELLO", they refused to look at us.

The last day in hell, the movers pulled out with our belongings, I put my purse in the car, closed the door and went make a walk through in the house. It didn't have a dead bolt, only a lock that you turned with your hand so I turned the lock, told the kids to get in the Jeep and low and behold, I had locked the Jeep with all the keys in it.

It was freezing outside, the never ending wind was beating us to death and we were locked out of everything. My husband was at work and I didn't have a cell phone (1985) so I knocked on the neighbors-from-hell door and no one would come to the door. They WERE home because she had just driven up.

So, my 2 little guys (4 and 7) and I walked about 3 blocks in the freezing wind to a convenience store. I didn't have a dime on me but the gentleman let me use the phone to call my husband and he gave us free hot chocolate to warm up. That was the first person who was nice to us in 6 long weeks.

Anyway, we stayed in his store until a tow truck driver came about an hour later.

And that is why I hated that place.
