Looks great, Sharon!

I'll be honest, I cringed the first time I heard "paper bag floor" but that is AWESOME! I certainly didn't picture anything like that. I could see myself stealing that at some point :)

Hi, all. I took Thanksgiving week off to work on Holiday stuff but still managed to get a little bit more done on the trailer. A large majority of the garage is covered in painting supplies, plastic, paper, painters tape and the like so that I can make the best of warm days when they occur. The underside of the lifting lid is painted and flipped back over and its upside has its first coat of primer on it, as does the cabin:

Image
Primered Cabin...Sorry, I've got sand on the camera lens again. I've sanded so much that the garage door opener doesn't work anymore, even when I blow it out and knock it with a broom!

When sanding, I got to a point where I just couldn’t tell what was good enough and what wasn’t and sometimes rough spots got overlooked. Having the first coat of primer on really helps to show up those overlooked spots. (The trailer doesn’t look quite so ugly any more, either!) I’ve got some more sanding to do before I add the second coat of epoxy primer and the two topcoats of white polyurethane. I’ll post more when I have something worth a picture.

Sharon,

Your "MyAway" build is coming together. The paint really unites the whole design of your camper. You ought to be very proud of your accomplishments!

I had seen the plans for the Compact 2, but had trouble visualizing how space efficient the design is. With your latest pictures, I can now see what a wonderful concept it is.

I appreciate (and yearn for) your tenacity. It keeps me moving along on my build.

Take care, Tom

Thanks, Tom. Your comments help keep me going, too. Your Silver Beatle is going to be beautiful. :D

My design isn't the Compact2or 3....Only the roof is, sort of. I think Andrew's design is much more efficient than mine. However, I wanted a smaller trailer, as small as I could get by with while still having the features that I wanted....which may be too small for some. Still, it will get the concept out there for people to look at and think about when designing their own.

Good work!
What is the measurement of the trailer doors height?

Sharon, just remember all it has to do is pass the 3 foot test! That means if it looks good at 3 feet or better, it's good to go 8)

Sharon: How much do you charge for a whole house repaint including the trim? Ha Ha. Just kidding. Is that more like the color you wanted? You must be able to see the finish line from where you are now. Looks Good.
Can you say camping trip, early next spring??? You've just about got it there, young lady. :applause:
