I think all of my posts should end with that...

Good to hear that you're home. You've heard it a hundred times, here's one more--take it easy. You'll be up and around soon enough. Take this time to have plenty of naps.

Well, nap time.

Yeah, I like that.

the shin has improved. sunday morning tried to walk and over did it. knee swelled and in so much pain. so i know have a cpm which just moves my leg back and forth. that has helped. went to the doctors for follow up today. a lot annoyed with him. made it home and rested. getting up and down is easier just need to get more weight bearing on the new joint.

its been a while and tonight was the first night i am back at work. still on crutches and walking very very slowly. ontop of it all it snowed so very careful going outside and into work. guys here at work have been great. have done well in pool therapy and physical therapy. however i think being back at work is the best thing for me. nice open space to walk around. plus the chairs all me to roll around. which is a workout within it self. pain is still an issue although i am off the loratab and twinkies, well not totally; i still need a loratab to help me sleep so one a day although i took one right before work tonight. the big worry for me to be honest was going to the bathroom. at home been using a chair so much higher and here no chair, and it went ok. not easy but i did it.
kids have been a great help as well as my siblings with trunk or treat and thanksgiving and helping me up and down stairs. we got rid of the ramps in the garage and had to move charlie to the side. not going to be able to work on her till spring when the snows have stopped. my sister came over on friday with her crew and made a space to park one jeep in there, and of course i drove a clutch for the first time in five months. i feel bad for the jeep being so neglected. i need to replace the exhaust and get it inspected. hate to say it going to have to pay someone to do that for me. battery is also dead and needs to charge, so need to find the charger.
on the personal side of things an old freind from high school contacted me and we have been chatting for a couple of weeks. feels good to talk to an adult of the opposite sex that isnt family. we shall see. thanks for all your support and i will keep things going.

Dang Forrest, you have had a really rough time with knee replacements. I can only wish you the very best. It does sound like you are on the road to recovery. Glad you made it back to work. You best be careful talking to other ladies, you can't outrun your wife just yet..lol...

Forrest, I am sorry for your loss. I guess this has eluded my attention before today.

In that case, by all means talk with the opposite sex every chance you get. I still wish you the very best.

Forrest!

It's good to hear from you again! You're making progress! You were missed at the annual full-contact no-pads no-rules football game in the street this Thanksgiving. We'll put you on the list for next year.

All seriousness aside, it's good to see that you're posting again.

Yes it feels good. Didn't want to post ok spent day in bed every day. I didn't feel up to it somedays. Going back to work will do me wonders make me go up and down steps brave snow and ice walk to the bathroom avoid the closer bathroom due to low seat. Use my quads to push around chair. It feels good to be back. The guys were such good help with clearing snow off my car opening doors and such I have awesome co workers

Forrest

Over the last couple month I sometimes wondered how you were doing with the recovery form your surgeries. Glad to hear that you are on your way back. Maybe by spring you will feel well enough to resume work on your trailer.

Best wishes for your continued recovery..............

Spring cant come fast enough and hopefully i will be using my walking sticks and not a walker/ crutches. i did find going down the stairs today a bit easier. the weekend was rough, i take a pill that makes me feel like i have the flu and luckly i take it only once a week. and then something i ate didnt agree with me so i want a happy camper and didnt get much sleep. oh well.
Work is going ok for me i am doing ok at it and just getting back up to speed on things. 5 months is a long time to be gone. the nice thing is i still have my vacation time that i must use so 2 weeks off at the end of the month. that will be good to spend with the kids.
Have a good time ya all and thanks for the best wishes.

ps. the girl i have been chatting with is coming for new years.

Knee Replacement

Postby K0HY » Mon Dec 06, 2010 11:26 am

Forrest...I am new to all this posting web stuff. Been lurking in the background for a while.

I just had to comment on your new knee. After you have gone thru the replacement 3 times as I have you will not let it slow you down. It does get easier each time. After my third time the next morning the doctor had to find me as I was not in my room and sent me home so I did not disturb everyone else there.

Keep doing what the PT people tell you and you will be taking long walks before you realize it. I went on an elk hunt 1 month after my third time.
