Flip Camera's Customer Service is Second to None...

Postby Dean in Eureka, CA » Mon Dec 13, 2010 1:54 am

I recently had problems uploading video clips to my computer.
FlipCS had me try uploading the clips to a different computer.
The camera uploaded fine on Joanie's laptop and I also discovered that my computer was infected with that nasty Google Redirect Virus.
After finally finding a way to kill the virus, I decided to plug the camera in to see if the clips uploaded, since they were still on the camera... Everything worked fine.
I then decided to contact FlipCS to give them an update and ask if there was any possibility of the virus being present in the camera.
As a precaution, they decided to wipe my camera clean and download clean files into it.
Flip gets my vote for Great Customer Service... If you're considering a purchase this Holiday Season, rest assured their Customer Service is Top Notch!!!

Hey Dean, which model Flip do you have? I'm in the market for a video camera to use on my bike tours. The new model Flip has image stabilization, 60 vs. 30 fps, and 8GB vs. 4GB (2hr vs. 1hr record time).

I think the most important thing for cycling videos would be the image stabilization, as well as the 60 fps for smoother footage. Looking for any first hand experience to verify this is actually the case though.

Good to know about Flip's customer service. Customer service always weighs heavily on a decision to purchase from any company. That's one of the main reasons why I'm such a loyal member at REI for example. I just returned something I bought back in July without a receipt - no problem at REI.

Scott,
I have the Ultra HD 2nd Generation. It was purchased 10 months ago.
I'm not sure, but I believe you may be talking about a newer model.
I had a teardrop derby ready to go, which the camera attached to, to get in race footage during the last IRG, but decided not to try it after concerns of catching the racer at the end of the track and risk of damaging the camera. Mine does have two hours of recording storage on it...

I've never even heard of Flip; but, now that I have, I'll look for it the next time I'm in the market for a new camera. Thanks, Dean.

Costco usually has them, mine has two versions this time of the year. I have the same HD model Dean does.

That video would have been priceless though. Ohhh, you could've had too much fun with that. Was Barbie a driver in the race again too? Not worth busting a video camera over, but close.
