Just spent about two hours reading every post that had the word "aluminum" in it and learned a whole bunch! AL isn't as scary as I thought... actually it will work much better for my application than luan or Masonite. I've got an aluminum supplier right up the street from me that specializes in sheet AL for home airplane builders.

OK, firin up AutoCAD soon as I have a samich! Prolly be back with questions once I start workin on the intricate details.

Lee,
What part of KC are you in? I'm up north in Gladstone. Are you talking about Airparts or is there another source for aluminum?

I have done business with them. I started building a Graham Lee Nieuport 11 a few years ago and got to large to fly the darn thing so I never finished it. I called them about aluminum and would have gone there but I need 5' wide.

Hey, you know any of the guys in the Dawn Patrol? I was gonna build a Nieuport like theirs, but since I had a flying plane, I never could get motivated to start one from scratch. Just sold my plane and now building a hot rod and a luggage trailer to go with it.

Lee,
Yes I know them. They are a great bunch of guys. All very helpful and knowledgable. We all went to Oskosh a couple times in a motor home owned by one of their parents. What a hoot. When my son was born my priorities changed. I have a Nieuport fuselage in my garage waiting to be finished. I doubt it ever will be but I can't stand to part with it. All my family thought I was nuts since I don't even have a pilots license but what the heck, I can get one if I ever need it.
