GDay from Australia

Hi All

Just found this site and looks great. I live in the state of Victoria which is at the bottom of Australia.

I have built one teardrop already and just recently sold it off to fund my newest one. I've attached to pics of where I'm up to at the moment. It's a little larger than the last one that I built. 10' long and around 6' high. It will get dragged around by my '32 roadster hotrod.

I want this one to be really low, so I designed an independent suspension system and have just about finished the frame and suspension setup. It'll run coil over jag shocks.

I've included a CAD drawing of the whole thing as I hope it'll look like when finished. See what you think.............

G'day to you too and welcome to the forum! Your new plan for your super Teardrop looks good. Lots of storage space and a dinette/sleeper.

Post lots of pictures when you progress with your build. Everyone loves to watch a build to finish...good luck!

Howdy Neighbor, just came across you post, I will be interested to follow your build. Starting to see a few more tears behind rods, it is a great combination. What part of the state are you in?

Welcome Hopdup,

Your new build looks very interesting - especially the independent
suspension.

Just curious - would such be available commercially there? [I've
seen it on a lot of the Off-Road caravan's sites.] - Or is it a
proprietary thing for each manufacturer? And are you using coil
springs for any reason other than preference? - Thinking airbags
seem to be [probably an expensive] the rage with that. - [Perhaps
those are one of those "If money were no object" things.]

Good luck and good progress!

Cheers,
Norm/mezmo

Hey Norm
Suspension was used to get the whole thing closer to the road. If I ran a beam axle, I couldn't get it very low due to the axle on the chassis. Had thought of dropped axle, but it still wasn't low enough. There are some independant suspensions availailable, but I designed my own. The shocks are a Jag independent type - only because I already had them.

Cheers Andrew

Hmmm I thought that it was mister Newton who proved quite conclusively there is no up or down, just toward the center

I am part of a Australian teardrop e-mail group (wistful thinking this time of year with single digit temps) and there are products and ideas of interest.
