A memorial service would be okay, I guess -- more for my family than because I want one.

My preference would be for a farewell kegger.
we can handle the keg part

Excellent choice!

No funeral for me and the sound of birds singing will be enough. My body parts are going to be donated (if they aren't all used up) and the rest will be burned. I told my designated person to just throw the ashes into the water so I could travel. We had a good laugh on that.
Hopefully, I'll be an extremely old female geezer before that happens. :D

Well, the songs are only if I am killed on duty (as part time cop). Police like big funerals and I wanted to make sure mine was somewhat concise. I went to a police funeral once that lasted almost 4 hours (and that was just the church ceremony). I set forth how long I wanted mine to last, who should speak and what songs to be played. Not that I want to think about it but it could happen. Being a cop is a dangerous profession (even when you do it for free).

If I die as a civilian, then I'd rather not have a funeral. Just cremate me and spead my ashes somewhere. I like CD's idea of a farewell kegger.

I don't feel a need for a big funeral or the sorts. But a fine Irish style wake; that's more like it 8)

as for the music, I don't really know. The old ones are tradition in the family, especially "swing low sweet chariot".

But a friend once suggested 'highway to hell' :o

My best friend passed away in 2005. Her favorite song was "Georgia" by Ray Charles. The priest would not allow it to be played at her funeral.

When her son got married two years later, the organist played it and we all boo hooed.
