Knee Replacement

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

Postby Forrest747 » Sat Dec 18, 2010 8:48 am

Well Steve if I was down south I am sure I could get away with dating a relative..... Banjo music in the background.

Steps are getting easier although the snow and ice has made it intresting but once again i have awesome great magnificaitante coworkers and they have been great at work. going to drive down the the Las Vegas Bowl next week and enjoy it for sure. being the engineer i have to track my progress and i am currently about 6 inches a second on land and about 10 inches a second in the pool. did 600 feet in 11 minutes and 32 seconds. pain is still there but over the counter stuff is taking the edge off so no more loratab and twinkies. still on crutches and maybe another 2 more months of those.

Nervous about going out with Shelly in a couple of weeks. I had a break down last night in the shower missing Lisa she loved the holidays. the house just isnt the same i cant set things up and the kids did a good job in getting the tree up with the help of my sister. to quote Garth Brooks I am too young to feel this dam old. Kenny also said it well;
If you see me out on the town
And it looks like I'm burning it down
You won't ask and I won't say
But in my heart I'm always somewhere with you.

Well everyone enjoy the holidays and cherish the moments they will last for ever.

Well scared as hell, hoping she has all her teeth.
Anyhow knee front i have done somewhat better. i went to the Las Vegas Bowl with my son for his Christmas gift and drove teh 6 hours down there in and out of the car sevral time. up and down a few times and very tiring. then to the game and worked my quads while in the wheelchair and very tired. then back the 6 hours at which one point saw a tear being towed didnt catch the first name but it was "lite" house it was cute.
found shile i still need to use crutches and its slow going i can do the steps one foot over the other with a long pause. also today noticed my steps were a little easier. iam finally seeing some improvements.

Thanks for the well wishes.

Oh the best laid plans of mice and men.

Well after only being back to work for three weeks I had 2 weeks worth of vacation to take, can i tell you i should of worked. Enjoyed the time with siblings coming over and doing all the christmas stuff. The sidewalks were good enough to go out to see the CHristmas Lights at Temple Square and i walked some of it albeit with crutches. Kids had a good time with presents going to grandmas and such.
I drove down with my football freak of a son to the Las Vegas Bowl, to see my Utes get thier heads handed to them, what an ugly game. It was the longest I have driven and first time in about a year in a different bed so that was intresting I really didnt get any good sleep, but hey he had a fun time.
After Christmas Shelly came into town to visit and someone laughed and ordered snow, damn global warming, and more snow. I had hoped to spend some adult time sans kids but i could not leave the house, i am not risking falling. my 9 year old did not like this, i can tell. the 8 year old resident blonde was fine even made her a menu of the food items we have in the house. the boys played video games.
we talked alot these last few days, thoughts on snow weather, places we have been, vacations, all sorts of stuff, bread bowl is it really for soups or just chili.
She did not spend any nights, although shelly did leave at 1am this morning and I did get a new years kiss, albeit from the resident blonde in the family, her first new years staying up late. after the kids went to bed i said good night to Shelly and then got a real new years kiss. conflicting emotions for sure.
We shall see how things go and she flies out tomorrow and is having dinner with us tonight as a family. i am envoius of her knees they work, one draw back she has not brought any twinkies ho hos or ding dongs as gifts. may just be sold out at walmart.

Yeah, but you can lube your up with WD-40 on those stiff mornings.

Good to see that you're getting out and about. Keep posting--it's good to see how well you're doing.

While trying to get into the truck late last week I slipped. Caught myself but some slight damage was done. Still a little sore. Well I switched over to driving the jeep with its clutch. I had a new throw out bearing fork and tension spring installed before my surgeries so it is a very stiff clutch. Great work out for that left leg for sure. Also the left knee is the one that hurts most. From that slip. Life has slowed down a bit post holidays. Life is good.

Glad you are doing better, but please be careful. You made me think about my old Pontiac that had the hardest clutch. It would build up the left leg for sure. I don't think I could drive that one again...

Good morning Forrest, It's good to hear from you. I think Spring is just around the corner, so hang in there. It will be warm soon. Sorry you are still on the crutches, but I am happy that you have mobility, even if it is with the aid of crutches. Stay in touch with us. Best of wishes for you.

Forrest,

Glad to hear you are on the road to recovery.
Unfortunately was we get older, it takes longer.
Spring is just around the corner and you will have a change to start working on the trailer again and as your body heals, things will get better.
So hang in there and soon we will see pictures of you working on the trailer again.
Wolfgang
