Can't really say "Happy Winter" since it has been winter here for a month. I just came in from doing the winter dance. That is moving all the stuff around for the snow plow guys and shoveling the walks. There is already a snow pile 5 feet high. Unless things start to melt there is no place to push the next snow fall. I look forward to cutting the grass already!

Kerry, check the national weather
Calif has been geeting hammered with rain for days with no real let-up
but, it is to stop long enough for clear skys on Thursday.....

I reallize we don't have 3 ft of snow on the ground, but after not hardly seeing any rain in years.....what the heck as long as it's clear for the Rose parrade, who cares

 actually, it is winter today and even with the rain, it will still be in the 60"s with no icy roads, just terrible out there ;)

I am ready to move south!!! Only problem is can't talk boss into moving.
City and county have used up entire winters snow removal budget in 10 days.

This month we have broken records for the most snow in one month, even before winter officially started: we have recieved 24 inches in 10 days! Accumulation is around 32 inches.

Only good thing is great base for snowsports.

There is no place to put the next expected snowfall of multiple inches this coming Thursday.

Since winter came early, will Spring come early?

More importantly,

Happy Winter Solstice!

Today is the shortest day of the year! After today, the daylight hours start to increase. Hopefully, spring will be springing before you know it! :D

Poor winter seems to get such a bad rap. Winter is my favorite season...I look forward to it as much as others look forward to spring and fall. I grew up in New England, where we get our share of snow, and I loved it then and still do. For all its inconveniences and bone-chilling days, the quiet starkness is beautiful...to me. Oh, and I love Christmas music, too...so there. :SG

Spent Sunday the 19th skiing with No. 3 Son. (My birthday present to myself.) It was in the teens, and as usual it was my hands that got cold first. Froze 'em one time a long time ago and they haven't been good in the cold since.

It had been about 5 years since the last time I downhill skied. The new skis that No. 1 Son and DIL gave me 3 years ago sure were nice. Parabolic, easier and better grip to turn. Think I'll plan another trip up there.

The first day of winter was 82 degrees at my house. :icedtea:

It's all downhill from here. 43 is the forecast high for Saturday. :(
