Dean was trying to find a campground in the center path of totality

It's just that once the eclipse passes central Oregon, most of the path through Idaho & Wyoming, doesn't get close to anything...even roads for the most part, if someone knows the area chime in, we're a long way from making any real plans, but it's nice to know the options to look at.

But, If there turns out tobe a good campground in the path, that can be a good thing, limiting crowds

Plus there are things like solar filters and such that need to be prepared for and for those on limiting budgets, time can be a good thing

OK, before slowcowboy chimes in, let me correct that to main roads.

I'm sure there are a few cowpaths or such, maybe a fire road but not many highways in the area

Now the path cuts all the way accross the state west to east so I'm sure there are some options, I know it cuts through the southern boundry of a National Park, sorry didn't look it up, but I saw no roads in the area

And the are a couple highways that run North to South that the path crosses so even if just stop along the side of the road....

Sorry slowcowboy, big state, most of it empty, actually, my kind of place in the summer anyway.

actually, I had been looking in the west of Wyoming

The path goes right over Casper Wyoming, before heading into Nebraska

Remember weather for August, just looking for campgrounds and such that could give us some options

It's a few years off, but not too early to start thinking about it, but....

do you realize that we will be haveing a Total Solar Eclipse

On Monday, August 21, 2017 thats only six years away

This will be the first Solar Eclipse since 1918 that will sweep across the US from coast to coast, will enter the US on the central Oregon coast head across the central US to the coast of N. Carolina

Just wanted to show what the lunar eclipse looked like from the Florida skies, usually we are the ones shrouded in haze at night. Thanks to William and family for taking this video, what it didn't show was them bundled up in blankets eating krispy kreem doughnuts and drinking hot chocolate.

All of the Lunar observers I know in CA, NV and AR were clouded out if not rained out, like I was

Slowcowboy should be jumping in here any minute: from the map of totality in Wyoming on Al's linked webpage, it looks like we could all just go to his place to see the eclipse!
