Hello from New Mexico

Postby sword181 » Tue Dec 28, 2010 9:30 pm

Hello the name is Dave Sword, I live in the mountains of south central NM.
I am a retired US Army pilot and Maintenance test Pilot. After the Army I worked for 28 years as a mechanic-inspector.

My wife and I love to camp and I am thinging about building a Woody TD
that I can tow behind my StreetRod. I also have some restored VW's that
I take camping.

I went to high school with one of your older members. We graduated from North High School in 1959. You probly don't remember me Gage.

Hi Dave, you have reached the perfect forum to get all of the info you need regarding teadrop trailers. It is intesting that you want to build a Woody, since a few drops of rain will turn it into corn flakes,,,,,,,,,well, not really, all you have to do is sand it down once a year and slap on another coat of varnish, keep it out of the rain and sun and just love it!

OMG, you remember a guy called, Gage! Hey how lucky you are. 1959 was a good year, and perhaps Gage will respond to your inquiree. I am interested in knowing where you hail from. Mild weather is a plus for builders and users of woody teardrop trailers. Good luck on your build, swing on by to So Calif on your maiden voyage and Gage and I will give you a hard time. (being a fellow pilot, I know you can't be all bad, lets see, hard left rudder, right stick and over you go!)

Welcome Neighbor. :) There is a teardrop gathering on the 4th of July weekend in Cloudcroft. You should go and see all the diffrent kinds of Teardrops and Tiny trailers there are. You can see it in the South Central part of the forum. Hope to see you there in the future.

wow, love those tow vehicles. A woody would look great behind one of them. We love our woody and wouldn't have it any other way. Epoxy with varnish over the top. Working well for us for now the third year. I will recoat with varnish this year, and we keep it inside.
