Now Here is Vintage Stuff

I guess its not technically camping gear, but, Kodachrome Film was my film of choice and I never left on a camping trip without several rolls in the cooler to keep it fresh until used. I've taken better photographs with digital than I could ever produce in my old chemical dark room, but, still, I think many of my favorites were made on Kodachrome. I came across this link on a photography site I frequently visit. A very interesting article on the end of this amazing film's run in history.

Here are some several shots that bring back a my own "vintage memories:

My brother that we lost to ALS about 10 years ago when we was in good health back in the 1980's on top of Imogene Pass also in Colorado,

I'd be interested in seeing any of our other members vintage Kodachrome memories. Do you have any?

My ex wife & I used to take tons of photographs; unfortunately, during the divorce, her baser instincts took control of her and she removed most of them from the house before I could go through them . Consequently, I have very few of them, but here are a few:
My very first motorcycle:

My second motorcycle:

My first "real" (and incidentally, current) girlfriend, myself & little sister. The sister is now approaching 30yrs old:

Technically, these aren't Kodachrome. At one point I was taking a lot of infra-red pictures, but with rise of digital photography & consequent demise of most proper camera shops, processing is hard to come by.

Thanks for sharing your Kodachrome pics. I love the motorcycle, but your girlfriend and family pics are even better.

Aha!!! This is the one for which I was searching a couple of days ago. Found it today, while looking for a picture of an old car to show a friend. I'm on the right, wearing Bobby Brady's hand-me-down trousers. 1972 makes me... 5yrs old.

As a professional photographer, I went through lots of Koadachrome, but I can tell you I prefer my current digital camera to film completely.

There are software products available that will give your digital images the qualities of dozens of films. But, why, IMO?

It's fun to wax nostalgic about the old "chromes" and the darkroom days, but I'll take my current 12.4 MP digital and Photoshop any day of the week.

I agree concerning Photoshop and a good DSLR. I think we're in the "good ole days" of photography right now. My old darkroom never produced a color print as good as I get now. And believe me, I don't miss making expensive test prints and the messy chemicals. But, I do have a lot of great memories that kodachrome produced. I still drag them out from time to time and fire up the Carousel projector. I'm slowly trying to get them scanned and digitally stored, but, its a pretty tedious project.

Nevertheless, it is fun to wax philosophical about the "good ole days of film".
