The Snail 'Brian' restoration progress.

Postby baloo » Fri Oct 22, 2010 1:50 am

Hi , I thought we had already joined this site as we seem to spend plenty of time on here  .
Anyway thought Id upload some progress of our restoration on our Thomson Dart 'Brian'. Our friend Deli dave uploaded some pics in general discussion when we first found our trailer .
We are making good progress with the stripping process getting all that paint off back to bare aluminium.
We hope to refit it out and bearing in mind its well over 60yrs old we are loving uncovering all the dents etc as they all add to its history .

This to me is the spirit of restoration :applause:

When I pulled up the linoleum in our kitchen to refinish the floor I found burn marks in the heart pine flooring from a wood stove. They were left in as they are part of the history of the house.

If you replace parts only because they look a bit rough, you are removing the history. baloo, you are doing it right, I wish you joy in the history of your trailer and will be watching with great interest.

Wow...that looks fantastic. Are your arms ready to fall off?
Something about that profile is just so neat. Love it. Image

I've been fascinated with this trailer ever since I first saw it! Those have got to be the coolest fenders I've seen in a long time (I'd almost say "ever", but I'm absolutely in love with the rear fenders of the 1939 Lincoln Zepher, with skirts, of course ... 8) ...!) ... it's too bad you are so far away ... I'd very much like to "borrow" them for a few weeks so I could splash a couple of molds off of 'em ... :D ...!

Your progress is looking great ... I'm looking forward to seeing it completed! Continued Good luck, and as always ...

CHEERS!
