General Discussion about almost anything Teardrop or camping related

Postby gailkaitschuck » Thu Jan 26, 2006 8:18 am

A WONDERFUL forum. Where else could I have learned how to "google earth" my house, start a fire with ice, deal with bears while camping, realize that a french press makes GREAT coffee, become a show off when we pull into a park with our little teardrop, tell folks we're decorating it with possums and not have them fall down laughing, find great friends when camping.......and discover that some people drink this strange concoction of PICKLE JUICE and CROWN and LIKE it.

And of course, finding our teardrop through this forum.

So if I could make a humble suggestion that maybe an asterisk next to our title for those that have donated. You see I kind a got a liking to the "Master" title. But in reality if we could customize (since mine is vintage(teardrop........ not member)) a designation for us nonbuilder but restorer/collector types, maybe antique owner or oldy.....or....????

Thanks for all you do and a to all you out there that make this a fun place to visit.

I agree and too would prefer to just have a little something, as this site is so good that what ever it takes must be done to keep it up and ruinnng.

I have met so many friends that it is impossible to count.

Thanks for your help mike

I know this is just my opinion, and probably not shared by everyone, but as far as I'm concerned, you can remove all of the ranking system. What does it really mean anyway?

I can't ever remember just putting in my two cents worth (gee, I've always wanted to say that!) on this site but, I think the asterisk and/or Donating Member annotation reminds me of the minister, of the church I used to belong. We had just moved into our new church and he asked everyone who had made a donation to the building fund to stand up and be applauded. I've always wondered if it didn't make those who hadn't feel pretty bad.
Chris :D

The tension between what is good enough and what is beyond that creates the space for character to become our work.

On another board I visit, they put your screen name in green if you are a donating member. There were some disparaging remarks about going "green" but the admins made certain that everyone knew the donation was voluntary and not in any way a requirement.

Add me to the long list of contributors. I've had a blast spending time here, learning from the teardrop masters. A couple months ago I didn't even know what a teardrop was, let alone think that I could actually build one (that remains to be seen! 8) ) but this forum has made me believe that I can. Thanks, everyone, and especially to Mike for hosting this forum.

Jeanette

PS: I like the asterisk idea, too. I want to earn my titles the hard way :)

I don't have a problem if mine doesn't say "donating member". As for the other titles, the phpBB forum software allows you to assign different titles based upon your post count. When you get to a certain number of posts, the software automatically changes your title. The admin also has the option to assign you a permanent title. Judging by the monetary response of this thread, I think everyone here wouldn't mind helping again if asked in the future.

So with that said . . . I'd suggest saving admin a whole lot of time by going back to the way things were set up before.
