American Gas Machine Lanterns

Postby PresTx82 » Sat Jan 22, 2011 9:24 pm

My Air Gas Machine (AGM) Lantern I just got at a flea market had no gas cap washer. Can a Coleman gas cap washer be used in this lantern? It appears that the AGM pretty much took Coleman's design on this lantern so I would think that the washer should work. The AGM is Military Specification circa 1940s.

I'm attempting a "Ceremonial Lighting of the Mantle" (CLM) this evening....................

If all else fails - a rubber o ring will work in a pinch - usually you find the diameter needed at an auto parts store

FYI:

The same washer that fits the Coleman lanterns fits the AGM lanterns. I installed one tonight and it burned for over three hours! Trial an error!
