The hardest part of this restoration so far has been the rebuilding of this wheel ,I discovered when I removed the tyre that the inner rim all the way round was totally rotten . At this point I thought I was going to have to get new wheels and new stub axles, knowing these would be difficult to find due to their age I had a go at rebuilding the rim . Luckily Barry (the man that can) made me a former to make the inner rim so it would be easier to reproduce and I welded the new metal in . I was pleased with the result .

Baloo excellent work. :applause: :applause: :applause: Many people would have thrown them wheels away and bought new ones to replace.
But here in Euroland we salvage everything possible and redo all possible. ;)

That is going to be sweet. :D :D

You don't know us from a hole in the wall, but I was up home in Massachusetts last weekend visiting my family, and my brother and I were sitting around talking trailers, and the Snail came up. We love that thing. :) My brother is considering a snail design for his next creation...to take place in the stable beside his cabin car and my nearly-completed tin-skinned TD that he's just finishing up.

Rock on, little Snail!

Well 4yrs have passed since we have worked on 'Brian the snail' but we have finally managed to restore him . He had to go on the back burner as we were too busy building trailers for our clients. But we have had two weekends away in him now and he is so lovely he feels so much more roomier than our 10x5 trailers that we build and I also have the added bonus of being able to sit in him with a table for eating etc if the weather is bad and as we live in the UK that's not difficult as our weather is so changeable.
