Hello from North Hollywood ... newbie Teardrop owners

Postby BernieVideo » Sun Feb 06, 2011 8:33 pm

Hello from Bernie and Siouxe from North Hollywood, CA.

We are the new proud owners of a used Camp-Inn 550 Ultra. It is #76. Actually, I am a half owner. I went in 50/50 with my boss and friend Mark.

We purchased The 550 Ultra from Jan Keller of Calistoga, CA. (Thank you Cary for the hook up)

Some of you know Jan and know that her health has kept her from being able to use her trailer any longer. She also wanted to relocate to AZ. So while we were saddened by her having to part with her trailer, we feel we are helping her fund her relocation to a warmer climate. A win/win situation.

When we picked up the trailer from Jan in Mid December 2010, she looked very good, very strong. We spent as much time with her as we could until she began to become a bit emotional about having to part with her Teardrop.

I am a personal friend of Cherokeegeorge, and was there when he brought his teardrop home and have camped along side him numerous times since he got his trailer. I fell in love with it at 1st site.

We haven't had a chance to camp in it yet. Been spending our time outfitting it.

Looking forward to taking it out to the beaches and mountains, rivers and lakes. Hopefully we will get to meet some of you people along the road or at a teardrop trailer event soon.

Welcome aboard Bernie and Siouxe . Know both Jan and George. You have to look out for that George dud but you probably already know that. A good test outing would be Lake Perris next month. There will be 100+ teardrops there. A lot of us here in SoCal will be there. If you guys go, be sure to stop by and say hi. You can't miss me. I'll have the black truck there. :o

Bernie...I spoke with George a while ago and he mentioned that you got this trailer. I'm sorry to hear of Jan's health issues, I wish her the best.

Glad to hear that it went to a good home, now take it out and exercise it a bit, and I'm the one responsible for George's stupid camping pants!

Gage...what's a George dud? Hey George...I think you just got dissed!   Just razzing ya' Gage. Doug

Congratulations on the 550 Camp Ultra. I am looking forward to seeing you at the, once-in-a-life-time, Perris Gathering, which I hope you will be attending. I, for one, love to have steak and eggs for breakfast, so when you see me there, don't feel obligated to invite me for an early morning meal, but be aware, if you don't, your future friendship with we teardroppers, may be severely impacted. After all, Camp-Inn owners, are a one-of-a-kind group, and have always shared their home-cooked breakfasts with old-retired woody owners, like me!

Just kidding, I will be the only guy. who has the little 6 foot teardrop trailer, which, when standing vertical , on it's tail, may make you think that it is an up-right outhouse, or at the very least, a teardrop-shaped telephone booth, with no tongue, reaching for the heavens. Come on by and chat. Conversation from strangers is always encouraged

So I commend you on your excellent choice, picking out a Camp-Inn teardrop unit a one-of-a-kind, quality camping trailer. I have unsuccessfully tried to trade my dumpy, weather-beaten, little ol'wooden teardrop, straight across, for one of their wonderful, top of the line Camp-Inns, but to no avail. Those Camp-Inn folks, even though they manufacture one of the finest teardrops in the world, seem reluctant to trade one of their quality units, for my aging, home-built, all-wood, teardrop trailer, which would, more than likely, eventually to turn into a pile of cornflakes in the rain. Reluctantly, after the Minden Gathering, scheduled for this summer, I will once again, attempt to visit their wonderful manufacturing facililty in Necedah, to admire the quality and dedication to their unequalled craftmanship, that is clearly apparenet, there in Wisconsin. (Hey, come on, can't we work out a deal?)

As you can probably expect, all of this is presented in a tongue-in-cheek mode, being aware that Camp-Inns, are, as you know, the best of the best. Good luck on your camping outings and I hopefuly expect to see you at some of our teardrop gatherings in the near future. You have made a good choice, and remember, sharing your steak and eggs breakfasts, with an old, aging, retiree, may reap many benifits. Hey, we have only 20 or 30 years left, so lets make hay, while we still can....See ya soon at the campfire. Remember, wood is good, but may not last! (Dry rot, termites, carpenter ants, fungus, mold, fire, etc.)
8) ;) Roly, just an ol' So Calif TD retiree, trying to fulfill my bucket list, before it's too late!
