I got a qoute $530.00 of 4 sheets .40 3003 to cover my 5 x 10 Benroy delivered.

...the price can vary widely depending on where in the country you are located and how hard you work to source the material...I paid 65USD 4 yrs ago for 4x10x.40 mill finish sheet...this is one area to LOOK hard for suppliers....................

In October 2010, I purchased two 4X8 sheets of .040 AL for $85.23 (total, including tax) and two 5X10 sheets for $154.91 from Ryerson. I had to pick them up at their warehouse in Greenwood MS. They have a warehouse there because they supply sheet metal to the Viking Range Co.

I recently purchsed .040" from a local Utility Trailer dealer. It's made for semi truck trailer roofs, it's 103" wide, and sold by the foot off of a roll. It was $11.40 per foot (103" wirde). This is the way to go for guys building five foot, or wider trailers.

The only regret, make sure "YOU" tape the end edges before they reroll your material for shipment, and make sure they don't pickup your material roll with a fork lift, denting it.

Try these guys. They did an excellent job of putting the 5X10 I wanted on a pallet and prptected all the edges.

Not sure how far from Milwaukee you are but that is the closest site they have to you.

There is a huge price break at 100#. It was cheaper for me to buy 5 sheets of material than 4!!!!!!!

In 2009 I bought 7 sheets, enough to do 2 trailers, for $522. Four sheets 4'x10' in .03" or .035" if I remember right (a bit thin but worked fine for the sides). And then 3 sheets 5'x10' and from my experience the 5' wide sheets seem to start at .06", again if I remember right, which is really thick. Maybe it was thicker. The price was right and I've also used the truck stuff in rolls by the foot which is the best for not having seams and also can fit any width basically, BUT it rolls up like crazy when working with it. Its not worth it in my opinion because the sheets are so much easier to use and have a better surface as the rolled stuff gets scratched. Also both need clear coating unless getting anodized. I don't like how the aluminum stains so easily. Looks awful.

It took lots of phone calls and searching around to find suppliers, but I got all my metal local.

I am getting prices for material that is 60" x 120" x .040" because I am building a 5'x8'. For 5052 it's $93 and for 3003 it's $110 both local.
On a side note, I am only doing my top in aluminum and going to polish it. I wasn't able to find any 2024 alclad 5' wide sheets so my choices are between 5052 and 3003. Any one have any insight into which of these is a better choice for polishing? I believe it's the 3003 but I thought I'd throw it out there.
