Going to start restoration on my 1940? tear. Where do I start? Any volunteers in LA/Orange county area? I think I need to start with the axel and make sure it is roadworthy. I have photos but cant seem to get them posted. Help I am challenged!

I'm no expert but always willing to lend a hand if I can, you may want to come out to the Perris CA teardrop camp out next month, there will be lots of folks with TD's willing to answer questions.

I am doing my best to get it roadworthy before then. My neighbor restores vintage cars and he is going to help me.
Hope to see you at the gathering. I think we will go even if It isnt ready.

If you get in "over your head" give me a call.

I will have my two tear drops at Perris, so stop by the camp with the red hot rod roadster, and say hi.

Gutted

Postby nrody » Tue Mar 08, 2011 11:47 pm

Well I jumped in head first and gutted my trailer. I was going to leave the floor but when I got down to it I found significant wood rot in one corner so out it came. I should have a new floor installed this weekend if all goes well and no acts of God occur in stead. I will post photos if I can figure it out. :?

Striped it down to the shell last weekend! (photos coming). Ordered a new axle with brakes just so I am covered when I hit the mountain roads. Ordered some windows from Ready Shed. Hope they work  . Ordered stabelizers. Figured out how to waterproof the bottom (new one to be installed Saturday I hope. Deciding on the electric. Which way to go. Maybe I will go to the RV show in Anaheim this weekend for ideas???

Murphy is my cousin so wish me good luck :) not just luck cause that could go either way
