My etched globes.

Lanterns, stoves, etc... anything old!

My etched globes.

Postby Darren » Wed Feb 23, 2011 12:38 pm

I was inspired by the IRG lanterns that Dean and Doug made. I saw one at LCG last year and really liked it.
This ones going on my everyday 200a.

Straight sides are easy. This is one I did out of boredom and as a test a while back. I don't even have a lantern that it fits on. :)

Image

If anybody wants this one I'll send it out for the cost of the globe + shipping. It fits on
286/288/321/325/335 liquid fuel
214 kerosene
282/285 dual fuel
and a bunch of the propane lanterns.

Thank you both. I'm still undecided on June, I'm guessing you're talking about ITG.

Edit - For Pricing please check my web site. Thanks.

Darren....how heavy of an etch do you think those globes can handle? I was wondering as they go through heat/cool cycles even if it is pyrex. Have you run one through it's paces? Let me know what you find out....I want to do up a couple of mine. The ones Dean did were just lightly etched, your's appear a lot heavier. Doug

Doug.. I have no working lanterns at this time. I want to try and etch a lighting hole in one to see how it comes out also. I'll see if I can get one of my lanterns burning and I'll run it through several cycles.

Thanks Paul.

They sure look great! I had run the IRG lanterns through their paces, but wasn't going to give any sort of a warranty on the globes and encouraged anyone that got one to remove the IRG globe and install a stock one if it were to be transported regularly and used. If the etched one gets broken, we don't have spares. Doug

Darren...how about this? Mask off the graphics...and dust the rest of the lantern globe for a diffused light, like some of the Colemans had done, only more. Won't make for the big blast of light that they give off and you won't go blind staring into a mantle...more of a local thing for dinner or playing cards late at night, without lighting up the whole area. I gotta get a bag of media to play with...., just an idea. Doug
