What would you call this trailer?

Hello All,

New member from Ottawa Canada. I was in Paris France this summer and came across this trailer. Definitely bigger than a traditional tear drop and it has a roof that will lift so you can stand up. Has anyone seen this before, I am interested in building it but would like some pointers to some close designs if possible. Thank you.

You might want to look in the design library at the winter warrior, this will give you an idea about the build of something very similar to what you want. One thing of concern with this is the water tightness when it is down due to the front curve of the lift-up roof and mating with the lower portion.

Hi boffingham,

That great little trailer is a Wa-Wa. It is a defunct Belgian caravan brand.
I agree with you, it is quite nifty. One of the earlier ones even had dual
wheels on independent axelettes [my coined word] with BIG rubber bands
providing the suspension action - as if it isn't unique enough already!

Look closely at your pic and you can see the dual wheels on the street
side of the caravan/TTT.

Here are three web sites I had booked marked about them. They are
Belgian or Dutch, but a translate bar soon pops up so you can
translate it into English easily.

So it is a Wa-Wa, thanks for that. It is a bigger than what I would like to build but I love the way the roof tips up to be able to stand. I am looking at a trailer design with a dropped floor in the kitchen area coupled with a raised roof to be able to accomodate a person 6 feet ot less. I need to create some sketches and any thoughts would be appreciated.

I know there are some general specs online on the Wa-Wa. Does anyone have specs to one that you could use to build one?

I think the WaWa was designed for European holidays down to the south of France or Italy, long before we had air conditioning. So another feature is that when you've lifted up the roof, you can leave open the horizontal flap that closes off the gap where the top lifts, making it a big ventilator.
