12 volt ac-versus 12 volt dc

Anything electric, AC or DC

12 volt ac-versus 12 volt dc

Postby 48Rob » Fri Feb 03, 2006 1:13 pm

Okay,

I know they aren't the same...alternating current as opposed to direct current.

I have something (small motor) that calls for 12 vac, but of course have 12vdc in the trailer.

GO-NO GO?

Rob

No-go......I believe the windings and general set up are completely different.

Be more specific, of course its possible, just think invertor that takes 12vdc (nominal) and converts to ac, need more info

Of course.

Figured the answer was a solid no, and so was intentionally vague...

Intent is to hook up vibrator unit from an easy chair to the trailers 12VDC system.
I have not dis-assembled the unit, but all the others I've looked at are just a motor turning an eccentric cam.

Rob (too cheap to buy if I can recycle...)

Well

Sure!!

I got a couple good laughs out of it all

I put one of those units in my Vintage travel trailer...sure is relaxing after a day of hiking or whatever.

Kind of like the "magic fingers" units...but I'll bet none of you ever lost a quarter in one of those things, huh :shhh:

If you are only after a little vibration, try running a generator in a tongue box with the AC going. :)
