Crossroads Banner

Postby JOHNFROMINDY » Fri Mar 04, 2011 12:30 pm

Kurt,

The banner looks great!!!!!! Does the "SINCE 2011" suggest that this is planned to be a repetative event? So far, this appears to have such overwhelming support that it should be.

John, I diddn't want to put a fixed date on the banner so it could be used if future events are planned.

The plan is to have this gathering (maybe at this park or different parks) on "odd" years. This schedule will fit in with other "big" gatherings that happen on "even" years, such as the "ECN".

Once we get the system worked out it will still be a "multi-chapter gathering" but other Directors might be involved at various "capacities" for future events.

So far, it's been a lot of fun trying to keep up with everything.

We still have work to do for things like "awards", contests, entertainment, and general organization at the gathering.

We've never tried to have a "wine & Cheese" with 166 people (today's count) before.

The pitch-in dinner will have the same (or more) people in line, waiting to eat.

The logistics of the events will be a challenge but I'll bet we (as a group) will figure it out.

If everything comes off well, there should be "Crossroads of America" gatherings in the future.

Wow, John, that's really nice.

I suppose the "Maiden Voyage" will be the Spring gathering at "Versailles"?

I'll bet it will be hard to wait that long.

Rose can make the coffee cake in the camper. :applause:

Anxious to see it.

The "Maiden Voyage" is planned to be to McCormick's Creek to do a little advance scouting for the "BIG ONE" in July. Let me know if there is anything you would like me to do while we are there. We will be going as soon as the weather improves a little(it's getting close).

John, aside from thoroughly enjoying your new trailer, while you are there, see if you can take some pictures of the park and post them for viewing on the forums.

But by all means have a good outing.

BTW, you need to change your "avatar" :)

John,
Keep me posted if you go down to McCormicks Creek on a weekend. We've thought about going down there in the next month or so and hopefully park in our spot for July. If you wouldn't mind the company and we're free, we'd love to join you and check out the Campfire.

Thanks Scott, I see the sites are starting to fill up with (red) numbers.

If anyone wants a site, it looks like you should act quickly.

Hey all! The new Indiana DNR reservation system is up & running. This isn't the case with all the state park campgrounds, but when you go to the McCormicks Creek map, they show photos of all the campsites! So you can see what yours will look like before you get there. The link is here. Just scroll down to your site number and it will zoom into your site where you can then click on the pic. Pretty cool!

Pat I've made several new reservations on the "new" system. The pictures are nice but the DNR have some bugs to work out.

Jeff, noted this on the Tearjerkers forum also.

It's nice to get a peek at the sites.

Point taken. I think I've only reserved once in the past by actually calling the number. I typically use the online reservation option, so hopefully it'll work OK. I'll find out soon, as I think we're going to extend our stay to Thursday night as well instead of just Friday & Saturday night.

And one of these years I'm going to make a habit of going to the TearJerkers forum umpteen times daily like I do here! :DOH2: WOW! 31 pages of CRA posts over there! Looks like I have some catching up to do!

Pat, it looks like it's open for Wednesday night also. Why not come Wedneday too?
