That is a good deal on that 2000lb. axle and definitely the safest way to go, especially considering you also plan to use the little CT for hauling your band equipment, which I am sure when gathered together is not a small investment.

Don , it will be better eh !!! The band has been carpooling to save gas... that trailer will come in handy ...

But since I found my Jayco dinette cushions fit in the TCT, I'm going with a more decorative conversion , The permanent front wall of shelves , and the cushions .. which can be removed for band hauling .. (simple) The little TCT has been sitting outside in the driveway all winter now , no leaks ... so that's good !! I just Love that these can stay outside ... Have to cover the Big one , and will have to cover the new Foamie TT too...

I still can't believe the commercial TT HAS to be covered to survive ... What were they thinking ??? I asked the factory rep ... his excuse over and over for everything was, "it was done to save weight" .... Duh !!! So why did they put a 50 lb. folding table in the dinette... think I'd have foregone the table and opted for a better roof ...

So what is the "...new Foamie TT?" Have I missed some thing on the forum?

If the factory rep gave you that lame ass excuse we both definitely bought from the wrong manufacturer i.e., Jayco. As has been my hard earned experience in life, live and learn, sadly. I am getting just a bit tired of trusting brand names only to find they are totally lame. My issues with Jayco are minor, so far, but I can see where they can get major quickly.

Been shopping around for a new axle/hubs/wheels... as you know , my axle on the tiny CT is too short , but how do I measure the axle , from where to where... ??? They do seem readily available and not expensive at all ... I just don't know what length to get ...???

GPW, trailer axle length is measured from hub face to hub face. I like about on 1 1/2" clearance between the frame and tire sidewall. So measure the frame width, then measure the rear off-set on the tire / wheel combo you plan to use.

axle measurement = frame width + (2 * wheel off-set) + 3"
when running standard 175/13" trailer tire / wheels with a 45" wide frame I use a 55" wide axle.

GPW, thanks for posting the Jayco video. When I was adding up the total parts cost for my project, I wondered where the profit margin was for the manufacturers. No mystery anymore! Any bets those assembly guys are payed by the completed unit, and not by the hour? Stopwatches running, hurry up, bury your mistakes inside the walls, gotta get'r dun! It may not have been Jayco, but I recently saw one TT manufacturer boasting of "Amish craftsmanship", in their "Luxury coach". Do they hire one Amish gentleman to touch each cabinet as it slides down the laundry chute from the "Custom cabinet shop"? Makes me gag. I have worked in sales for 15 years, and I could never take a job foisting junk like this off on good people. Wow, end of rant, back to waiting for my trailer to be delivered. Regards, Kyle

Kyle, I love the way they use the term "price point" ... That's their excuse for everything on the trailer ... They make everything cheap on the trailer your fault ... because you wouldn't pay any more for the good stuff... Thin ply roof with cheap vinyl covering , price point, DUH !!! Untreated OSB floor , Uncomfortable cushions , cheap fittings ...price point ...
And on their lightweight trailers every excuse is ... "trying to save weight" . That's why they put a 50 lb. folding table in it ... Makes no sense at all ...

Sorry , but I've just "had it" with the commercial RV industry ... I think Teardrops and Cargo Trailers are the best thing to ever hit the camping circles ...
And Thank God for this forum (and Big Mike ) , for without it , I'd never have known how really BAD the commercial stuff really is by comparison ... or how to fix it !!! As Don said ^...

I've got one (Jayco) , stuck with it , but from what I learned here I know how to make it last a little while ... The old lady says we have to keep it till it rots ... which should be almost any time now ...
The main objective down the road is still a bigger cargo trailer conversion ... 6'X 12' or 14' would do me just fine ... CTs the perfect trailer that can actually survive outside ...
