I'm probably pushin' my luck with adding Thursday. This is going to sound crazy, but summer isn't our favorite time of year to camp. Usually just too stinkin' hot for us! We'll get out in the summer typically for just events like this or if we have a cooler weekend. Give me October & November and we'll be out 3 or 4 weekends a month!

Pat, I think about 90% of people would agree with you about "hot" weather.
I'm not a big fan of "Hot & Sticky" either.

Fortunately, McCormick's Creek is a very well shaded park.

I guess it really doesn't make any difference beacuse I heard that the weather is predicted to be "sunny with highs in the mid 80's with lows of 65" for the two weeks in mid-July 2011.

Hey...I can dream can't I? 8)

Mid 80's in July vs upper 90's (even 100's) in Texas for July - I'll take that anytime :picklejuice: Guess I'll have to pack my long sleeves ;)

Scott, that was only "my" forecast. (wishfull thinking)

I'd bring the short sleeves too cause it can get pretty warm here.
I've seen 105 in mid july before but at least (this time) we'll be in a shaded area. That will really help.

Jeff, I put an A/C unit in my teardrop about (5) years ago. Best move I ever made. It changes the entire camping experience.

Hot during the day is one thing but I don't like to sweat all night. What a difference.

You're damn right on that one, Kurt! Jeffro, get the AC hooked up. It'll change the camping experience.

This particular park has never been timber harvested. Some of these old growth trees ar 4 and 5 foot in diameter. This park was my choice as a summer gathering because they darn near have to pipe in sunlight.

We attended the summer gathering with the Michigan Chapter last year and off in the distance we could see "THE" tree. Vickie is very susceptible to heat exhaustion and she went down the 1st day after 4-5 hours in the heat. Luckily we had the A/C and after a nap in the cool she was recovered and ready to go. Later that day I took advantage of the A/C for a couple hours also after feeling a bit overheated. This is definatly not the case here at McCormick's Creek park it has a very dense canopy which will help to keep things so much cooler.

But just in case ......... :D

O.K. I stretched the truth there were 3 or 4 trees (off in the distance) at the Michigan Gathering.

In the summer I like to bring alittle portable fan for the back of the teardrop cooking area to keep flies away. works great! Can buy nice cheap little units that plug in or car adapter for those with that type of hook up in their trailers (Our Camp-Inns have both) If we have electricity works great under the shelters (canapies) as well.

Just a thought for those of you doing pre-planning lists of what to take and pick up.
