The Alienbaby has landed.

Hi, my name's Jay. I'm 37, married and live and work in Minneapolis as an auto mechanic.

I plan to start a build thread detailing my project so for now I'll keep this short.

Basically my wife and I started a project about 5 years ago. We got the teardrop about 75% done when we lost our workspace. We towed the teardrop home and 'shoe-horned' it into an already over-crowded garage. That was about 3.5 years ago. Since then it has been used as a storage container for miscellaneous junk that has accumulated in the garage. The way it was stored it wasn't possible to work on it. Things happened, we got married and other projects have come and gone. The teardrop was pretty much forgotten. That is until about two weeks ago when I decided to dig it back out. Now I am eager to get back to work on it and am determined to get it finished this summer!

I am here to hopefully learn and ask lots of stupid questions.

Outside of the teardrop I also love old things and odd projects. I currently have a 1952 Oldsmobile 98 coupe (mild custom) and a 1955 F100 truck. I am also rebuilding a late 50's Coast King bicycle that I am converting to operate with a small gas engine. Like I said, old and odd stuff all the way!

Thanks for having me!

I think that describes a lot of us on here. Welcome to the club. Post some pictures of your teardrop. Also post some pictures of your bike that you are going to be converting. I have an old bike that my son and I are planning on converting. I will be sure to post pictures of that in the bicycle section when we start.

Welcome back to the madness Jay!! I feel for you in Minneapolis as cold as it is there. I like the 70's to 80's we have had down here in GA. Good luck on finishing your tear and as Dan said post pics, lots of pics as we all like to watch as you never know when someone will think up something new on here.

Thanks for the welcome!

Dan, heres a couple photos of the bike. The first one was as I got it. The second one is where it is at now.

I put on an old Shockmaster springer fork on, painted the frame and got new tires and wheels for it. I'm recovering the seat right now. I think I might enjoy it as a bike for a little while before I put the motor on it. The engine is a Grubee kit.

Old bike

Postby danlott » Fri Mar 25, 2011 3:07 pm

Here is our old bike. I am not sure what kind of bike it is since there was nothing on it to identify it. We got it at a yard sale for $5. The lower picture is kind of what we are planning. I plan on making a tank to fit in the frame. Also will be installing some cream colored ballon tires.
