Just figured out how to post as a "newbie." Good to be somewhere where people "get it".
I've had a Teardrop for the past four years and never want to be without one! Right now I have two.... lol
Last year I was able to quit my Government job (VA Health Dept) and move to Florida to help out the parental units. The house they found has a two-car garage, so before my "retirement" funds ran out, I decided to do something I've wanted to do for a LONG time - Build.
I used the "standard" HF trailer frame and have tried to keep it as simple as possible - except for the things I have found running the East Coast with one that I really did want: A 12v system with a roof vent with a fan. With the fan, I have RARELY even thought of going the AC route (although my Little Guy Rascal has the PetCool and I have used it, I really didn't NEED it. Shade and moving air have worked well for the most part). Would like to get it figured out for 'resale'.
I have found that a built-in stove takes up more space than is necessary (for me) and went with just plain counter top and a Coleman. Same with a sink. A Rubbermaid dishpan does exactly the same thing (for a fraction of the cost), stows well, and now my sink doesn't weigh 600lbs so I can easily move it to wherever it is convenient to was dishes - ew... Plus, I no longer have the plumbing, leaks, etc etc etc - or expense. A 5-gal colapsable works GREAT - again, for me.
I would really like to sell it and move on to the next one. No more than five per year would be great! Any suggestions? My goal is to make them available to as many people as possible WITHOUT their costing a fortune - oh yeah, and to eat a little...
I'll try to get some pics loaded in my profile or whatever it is for constructive critisism (or however you spell it....) ;o)
Looking forward to hearing from people who have found these little gems to be as wonderful, fastinating and fun as I have!
