i have my windows installed for the most part,but i dont have the clamping rings and my walls are to thin to hold the windows in place but that is ok i will just screw the windows from the outside ,i would just use the clamping ring as a trim ring to finish the inside,so my question is how do i finish off the inside off any ideas or options ,im sure most of you pros have some great ideas thanks :thinking:

Hi Sean, would you be so kind as to give dimensions of the wall and window frames. You might try a picture frame inner trim if the window is rectangular.

hey dave my walls are 1.200 thick about the same as the windows they are the rv type 3"rad corners....picture frame should work just round corners i will check that out thanks

Hey Sean, I've seen some pre-made window trim for those windows at a local RV parts store. You might try the manufacturer to see if they are available too.

The trouble I have with those shed windows is the glass. If it is just regular house glass I would think not so good on a vehicle that will probably go many miles over the road. It is not a great safety concern as when there should be anyone near it, it will be stopped.

We've been eyeing those windows in Kustom Vans .... Many now reside in the boneyards, and the windows are still in great shape and can be had for a "song "... Most all have inner rings too ...

yes i went to a few boneyards the problem with custom van windows they are curved a little not much but they are not flat,,,i got my windows at walts rv salvage in rialto 35x21 white rv window slider and sliding screen in great shape 70.00 safty glass he has a ton of windows just have to do some searching

3822, some are flat , you just have to look around ... The giveaway is all the caulking where the body seam is ... probably on the cheaper units ... Got a couple like that down the street on an abandoned van ... Just have to get permission to strip it ... 3 usable windows as far as I can see ... FREE.. :thumbsup:

GPW count me in as a fan, I'm not into tree hugger type recycling...but a junk yard wanderer, in my area in south central Kansas there are lots of mom & pop salvage yards with old travel trailers sitting & rotting away.
Most will give you access to any windows for 10.00- 25.00 each, and cut around them with a chain saw if you like. Get them home and remove them and clean them up. Also doors, roof vents, lamps, sinks, stoves,and any other RV stuff you need. The price is based on your "horse trading" ability. One trip thru one of these yards can be like a whole seacon of AMERICAN PICKER.

Kid , I always go in with a good story and even some pictures or drawings ... These people are usually bored out out of their minds with the daily tedium , and enjoy a bit of "entertainment" .... They always seem to take an interest and make me some great deals ... :thumbsup:

Now , on the other hand , I do recycle , and always keep a look out for suspect parts, wherever ... just an amateur Picker ... :lol:

But this does have some consequences ... As I said before , got my eye on the abandoned van down the street ... Lots of good windows in that one , just ready to pop in a TD build ...but it's all overgrown and is probably a nest of snakes ... Recycling does have some problems to overcome .... :roll:

I am on a budget and finally ended up looking through Craigs list for a truck campertop for cheap. There are quite a bit of them online and if you are pacient and can drive a little distance you can get a good deal. I picked up a cap for 35 dollars I have two decent aluminum sliders with screens with a bonus of some rail hardware from on top.

I am not sure what I will need to do to mount these yet.
