What are you looking for specifically? There are some very well made tears made in the US?

I'm an equal opportunity shopper....... I know what I want here, just thought I'd give a G'Day to a digger made Teardrop. I've seen one I like alot but at the present conversion rate, nice but don't fit the pocket book.

Aussie teardrop campers retail for around $13,500.AUD. At the current conversion hovering around $1.03 in our favour, I think you lot would be better off waiting for the dollar to drop a bit more.

They should be REALLY tough too. They must be built to withstand a kangaroo kick!

I like the stove sink combination on the auss treardrops a lot.

they also have a neat lauverd metal security door on the side of the there look a like little guy teardrops doors.

I would jump any day for a chance at a off road austrailan teardrop compared to any thing little guy or Socal teardrops makes. '

I asked for what you are looking for specifically, very specifically :D
The reason is that I have a source willing to make what you want if I can convince him of the market. So give me your wish list, everything you want, 4X8 5X8 5X10 sink, water tanks, stove two or three burner, and I will see what we can do. Are you thinking major rock crawling, or road to a boondocking location?
Post the link to the Ausi trailer you like.

WOW talk about pricy. How about twice the tear for way less than half the price? I am working on the web site but this is the temporary one that is up. http://www.leftyoriginals.com
Ryan is working on two 5X10's currently and I have some of the construction photos that I shot that I could send if you want to PM an email address.

You must realize that it's what you can't see that makes them pricey compared to yours. Australians have this unusual habit of trying to destroy anything they buy just to say " I told you so" By the way, there's a lot of German ingenuity in those builds and even the on road units are more than capable off road.

The picture is of one of the 4X8's. You are correct it is not the same. It is designed with CNC formed marine plywood which means they are replaceable if you manage to prang it badly enough. they are built with a substantial steel frame MIG welded by AWS certified welders locally in Toledo and powder coated. I have done weld inspection in that shop in the past. The axle is a Dexter and we are thinking of an airbag suspension for very serious rock crawling (which is why I asked).
The galley is as elaborate or simple as you wish and looking at the Ausi tear it is similar to the Little Guy in the galley set up (not much there),.

Paul the built to be bomb proof was a concern for me when we decided what we wanted for ourselves and since we will not be rock crawling much and we did want creature comforts the compromises were wider stance and an air shock lift for the times we are roughing it a bit. But I did borrow ideas from Bushtracker to be self contained.

Sounds to me that, once again an American does it bigger better faster. Sorry, but I'm yet to see a mass produced product that comes close to Reiner's individually hand built teardrops. No CNC required, no certified welder required when you are one. He builds everything himself. As simple or as involved as you order.

Paul I understand where you're coming from but also understand the quality and materials that goes into these trailers. The advantage to using CNC fashioned parts is that they are interchangeable fit precisely and are easily replaceable. All of the holes are in the same place so that if you do prang one of the sides for example, it is a simple matter of using a release agent on the glue and screwing on a new side then skinning it with whatever was used to begin with. The wood that is used is marine grade plywood and it is triple coated with a urethane finish prior to being skinned with aluminum. The warranty on the trailer is that other than for neglect or abuse it is guaranteed for life. I personally don't see how you could build a better teardrop trailer when you use the best quality material and everything fits exactly.
